  1. Hi I need some help, well not me, my mot tester. He/we/I need a recommendation for a yorkshire based club that runs winch type events but for daily driver cars I.e. not dragging your car through 3feet deep mud so you can tow it home to clean and fix for next time equally though not so tame that a 10 year old in a fiesta can do it. If you know what I mean. Oh and there's a catch, whilst he has a winch at each end and 35inch tyres they are fitted to an 80 series land cruiser. Cheers in advance.
  2. Well said. I took one off a disco, needed a head skim for my troubles.
  3. For all I love my 90 pickup I could be very unfaithful with one of those, what is the word for beyond gorgeous?
  4. Took me 3 hours to do one. The pin was badly worn and when I drifted out from the bottom it crumpled in the middle so I had to cut one end and force the hinge apart. The top bit would not budge even with a big hammer and the cobalt drill bit would not bite as the top of the pin was work hardened so I had to anneal it with the gas torch so I could drill it out. All told a monster of a task.
  5. Fitted as per instructions using a2 stainles from harrogate tool and bolt.
  6. It is nice to talk to someone who knows their stuff.. I feel a replate coming on.
  7. More research suggests that reme kept 1800 back when they were up for disposal and re worked them to take a 1000l drop in water tank. I can't however find out what they did to them for certain but there's a hint of anti roll bars being installed or altered along with the springs.
  8. So if there is a marker in it as well as the dye are we talking traces of parts per ten or parts per million?
  9. It was that that got me thinking.
  10. Hi, Given I'm a farmer and therefore skint, how feasible is it to drift out the hinge pins on my 300tdi front doors and replace them to remove the slack and get the doors back in the right place? Anyone done this with any degree of success?
  11. Hi, Before I do this I could do to know where I stand. I have a 20l jerry can which I filled with white. Prior to this it was one of the cans I store red in for the tractors. I let it drip dry before I put the white in but did not rinse it out. If I now put the 20l of white into my defender and then get dipped by hmrc are they one going to detect the red and two will I get bent over by the man? I could put it in a tractor and they can whistle but at 146.9 a litre I'm loathed to waste it on a fergy. Any thoughts?
  12. So if the mod over specified and under plated does it then follow that removing the mod plate and putting a plate on that gives ulw/ tare and an arbitrary figure for mam based on tyre load rate hitch load and spring load whichever is lowest along with a serial number is acceptable to plod given that trailers over 750kg but less than 3500kg mam are not obliged to have a plate by law (though it is recommended).
  13. Ok next point. Having been reading up on the net there seems to be some wide tracks that can carry a tonne, how would I tell which I had given I can't read the data tag other than the word universal and cargo? Cheers.
  14. Hi all, I'm new here so forgive me. Is there a hard top like an ifor Williams that fits or can be fairly simply made to fit a mk3 wide track sankey? Thanks in advance.
