I've searched about a bit but I still have a basic question.. is this a 'tub off' job?.
I've got a series 3 that's been sitting around for a few years ( lapsed project ) and I was thinking it's time to get started again so I had a poke round the chassis to see how sound it was. Seems ok except for the rear cross member which is corroded on the near side, the rot extends to about the spring hanger.
I'm not sure if the hanger is affected or not, will need to set about it more thoroughly. I'm thinking that maybe I should just get the cross member with extensions. Any thoughts on which ones are good/poor quality?
To be honest I'm at the stage of weighing up whether to press on or abandon, I don't have a lot of spare time, the Landy is outside and the weather isn't good ( I'm in Ayrshire, so it's not likely to get better! ) and it looks like a fair bit of work will be needed due to it sitting around for so long.
On the other hand, I've made some mods to get better seats and more room for me, it's got a Salisbury on the rear and I've got a PTO winch lined up to fit so it could be quite a nice ride once it's done.. decisions eh?
Thoughts and advice welcome, be aware that if I go ahead you'll see a lot more posts like this!
