  1. I have MSD ignition on a 4.6 v8 in my series, which is fantastic for drag racing, but i wouldnt think if it for an overland. My day to day series 3 has had a complete rebuild including long stroking but i swear by points as its so simple to check for primary ignition. Roadside repairs are always easier in the dark when its raining and your late when on points. Not gaving to faff with multimeters etc... Carry a complete spare dizzy too and get used to wipping it out and changing roadside, once youve done it a few times you dont worry about dropping a points screw into the dizzy when your changing them :0)
  2. I put an r380 into my series 2, i used a 'stumpy' short bellhousing gearbox with and lt230 transfer case, have to get a defender handbrake as its a cable one, also a bit of chassis cutting and welding,i removed the gearbox x-member which means putting gearbox mounts between the chassis rails, also have to remake the propshafts, but worth the effort.
