  1. I have a Disco 2 GS TD 5 T reg 1999 and the interior is starting to look threadbare, mainly the seats. Can anyone advise if they know of any companies that would supply new seat covers? I plan to remove the existing upholstery from the seats and recover with either cloth or a cloth leatherette mix. Had a look on exmoor trim who offer new seat foam bases and new covers for the Disco 1. I asked if they plan to offer seat covers for the Disco 2, but told not in the near future. They put me on to National Trim who have not got back to me. Has anyone attempted making their own new seat covers, if so how big a job is this?
  2. I used a paint stripping heat gun to bring back the shine and colour of some plastic panels on my Honda pane European bike. Trick is to apply the heat in a circular motion and keep the gun constantly moving. Otherwise you can damage the panel. Get an old panel of some sorts to practice on first.
  3. Can anyone advise if it is a common problem on a Discovery 2 td5 (T reg) to have rust where the bonnet hinges meet the bulkhead? If so, can anyone advise on the following please? How big a job is it to repair? Is there any advantage with removing the windscreen to give better access to do the repair? Any other help or advice would be appreciated. Regards
  4. Hi Many thanks Would you know what ,the material is to manufacture the actual door cards are called? Rgerads
  5. Hi Can anyone advise what the clear material is called that is glued to the doors of the Disco? This is the sheet that is visable once the door card hhas been removered and acts as a protection agaionst condensation. Also what the name of the gl;ue type substance is and weher can both of these items be bought from? Cheers
  6. Hi all I have a Disco 2, 7 seat TD5, 1999 ES with 130k miles on the clock. When accelerating on normal roads and going through the gears, if you reach 3k revs the engine starts to 'judder' and hold back a bit. I have been advise that it could be the turbo on it's way out, if so can anyone suggets which make/type of turbo to replace it with or can anyone suggets a different reason for the 'juddering'? Thanx
  7. I know that water getting inside a Disco 2 Td5 is a common issue, however, both the sunroofs have been sealed with silicone by the previous owner some time back, but water is still getting in. I have notice that after using a jet wash when washing the car and to trying and identify where the source is, I have found water on the rear parcel shelf, rear floor,/boot area (under the carpet) and front passenger seat. Seat is slightly wet on the edge closest to the door . The rear door/tailgate has drops slightly when opening and can be heavy and stiff to close but does close ok, I think. Is it easy enough to re-align the door? Have checked all the rubber seals and all seem ok. Only thing I can think of is if the silicone used to seal the outside of the sunroof has began to disintegrated and is starting to let water in again. There is a damp smell inside the car at times and you can see condensation on the inside of the windows if the sun has been shinning. Can anyone offer advice on how to remove the silicone or offer a suitable product to help? Once remove would something like Tiger Seal do a better job? Anyone else experience this issue and able to offer a solution or point me in the right direction of where the leak can be please, or offer a solution to stop this? I would ultimately like to repair the sunroofs so they work again or am prepared to change these out for newer ones. Thanks in advance for the advice.
  8. I have a TD5 T reg 1999 7 seater on air. When driving it feels like with driver and one passenger, the car moves around the road and you need constant correcting with the steering wheel. The air bags have been changed recently and all associated parts of the rear susspension work as they should. As far as I am aware this car does not have ACE. Car has 128k mile and was last serviced at 125k with nothing noted. Checked the tyre pressure, all were fairly low, so re-inflated as per book 28 front/38 rear. No change to the handling Can anyone offer advice on the following questions please? Any advice to correct the 'wobbley' feeling as you drive? Can ACE be retro fitted? Or is there any other 'up grade' advisable for the suspension? Thanks
  9. Hi I have an issue when driving my TD5 T reg 1999 Disco. When accelarating through the gears, once between 2000 & 2500 revs the engine feels like it is misfiring/stuttering!!! Same thing happens when at 60-70mph if at the same rev range. I have not long bought this car and new to the LR brand. The car was last serviced at 125k mile. Current miles are 128,500. Any pointers please?
  10. Hi I am in Aberdeenshire, northeast Scotland. The bonnet is red, but very faded. I can send you photos if need be?
  11. Hi Thanks for the info, appreciated and will give it a go.
  12. Hi The bonnet skin of my Defender 200 tdi is in good condition but some of the frame have seen better days, in particular the front most part where the catch fits. Can anyone advise if it is possible to get this part of the frame and if so where from?
  13. Hi all New to the Disco forum as I have just bought a Disco 2 GS 1999 (T reg) which I will collect this Friday night. The sunroofs are the manual winder type and appear to be stuck/seized. Can anyone offer advice/photos of how to free this and get it working again? I am looking to swap this out in time, for an electricly operated sunroof. I realise that all parts can be change to an electric version, but is it possible to keep the existing sunroof /frame/tray etc and only change the winder for an electric motor & switches or does the complete sunroof/frame/tray etc need to be swapped out? Appreciate any views especially if anyone has done this before or if any photos can be offered.
