the old sender was sold with the old petrol engine,yes everything worked before i swapped the engine.

I have a series 3 lightweight and have just put a 2.5 td engine in ,it goes well but the temp gauge wont work .I used the 2.5 td sender unit ,when i turn on the ignition the needle moves a fraction but never moves from the bottom of the gauge .The gauge worked ok before and the sender is new what have i got wrong ??

There is a seal in the timing cover ,take the timing cover off remove the old seal and tap in a new seal.
