  1. I see what you are saying? I dont really know the answer, I suppose a 4x4 Adventures or BADLC or challenger evnt may cater? I just liked the idea of simple rules and driver ability being key, with an emphasis on skill and accessability to a wider audience. Ben
  2. Or drive accordingly and have a well prepared/maintained truck, simple spares (bulbs, lens, track rod end?)
  3. Hello all, thought Id have my pennies worth!! I think this sounds like a fantastic idea, there are plenty of us who have a "standard" truck who would love to come and compete on a level playing field, like for like! Im sure you guys are far better at organising events than I am, but imo any front winch should be allowed, is a bowmotored, gigglepinned mainshaft 8274 too modded? I would really like to see standard sillouette?? only. I know traybacks are great but there are plenty of events that cater for these, novice as well and it would be great to see people competing with a bias towards driving skill rather than the truck!! With this in mind, no rear winch, no lockers and a 35" max tyre size would really make the event appeal to pepes who cant justify a big build. Nearly there, I think driving to the event should be encouraged, even awarded, or penalise for trailering? Yes I have a trailer and the means to tow a truck but many people dont and it would make people think when competing, so as to conserve the truck. Hope this dosnt offend, but would love to see an event or series run along the lines you guys are thinking. Ben
  4. just come accross this, fantastic!!! I have a 4 bore, single barrel hammer gun and when that bad boy goes off in anger you know about it!!! It was on a punt origionaly, now a shoulder gun!! It may be worth giving Westley Richards in Birmingham a ring, they would be able to point you in the right direction. Or try Alan Murry, he makes large bore guns. Ill try and dig out the numbers. Cheers Ben
  5. Hello all, I had devons kit and it worked a treat, but I found with a county spec and a fair bit of weight up top (and being a wuss!! ) that the truck was not very stable. I bit the bullit and got the complete Glyn kit and what a transformation. Yes lockers get you further and when the rear wheel is on full droop it may not be offering any grip, but it sure as hell makes you feel a tad more confident when your not rocking!! Hope this helps, only my pennies worth! Ben
  6. Thanks one and all, as i thought, it isnt really going to work as a plonk in and go? Im not sure on moving the letterbox as its already there and Im guessing would be a pain in the preverbial to move sideways and also look a tad messy, weld, plating etc!! So its either sell it and growl at the person who said it would fit a dream "I had it mounted like that", my fault for not checking really, or make it fit!!! Anyone want a good Husky?? Cheers Ben.
  7. hello, got hold of a husky, my rear winch tray and letterbox were already cut and fabricated. Now my concern is that the husky is offset to my cross member letterbox. With a fairlead mounted on the husky (ali) and the failead on the exterior of the crossmember will this create a problem for the smooth use of the winch? lead to excess bunching? Incorrect rope angles? Hope this makes sense? Basicaly will it be ok? Cheers Ben
  8. Hello, Bought an xeng anchor on monday, delivered tuesday morning and it is great! Great product, great service. rather nice deal and when used in anger last nite didnt even flinch! Oh and the new xclamps allow it to fit a treatt on the front bumper!! Ben
  9. Looks like you all had a cracking event, shame we couldnt make it , hope to see you all on the 6th! Ben
  10. Thankyou one and all, I think I have got the gist of it!! Its an MSA comp so I will go with what I have got and should there be a problem I will smile sweetly, or get the girlfriend to flutter her lashes!!! Thankyou Ben
  11. Right, Ive got to have apositive return on the throttle linkage on my 300tdi for an up and coming competition, what do people suggest, or where can I get a wee spring to fit in the linkage?? thanks Ben
  12. hello, sent me form off today, now to organising sleeping!!! Are people camping, caravan, B&B??
  13. Hello, get the modulars you want, ring Gwyn Lewis and get some weld on locks. Well thats what I have just done and they work a treat! just got to have a steady weld hand!!! cost about 150 for 4 wheels (8 rings, 32 bolt, think they are 5mm). Hope this helps, Ben
  14. Thaks for that Tony, will be interested to hear how you get on, findings etc!!
  15. Thanks for that Tony, I have plumped up for a set of Gwyn Lewis's weld on locks, so we shall see how we get on!! lets hope my welding is up to it!!! On another note what ratio of twin gigglepin do you use? cheers Ben
