Well done graham!! NVQ level 0.1,did you do the big proud road test afterwards like i do? and your to good for kwik fit....you can spell, and you have a sense of humour
I must confess I ragged the engine rotten up and down the mean streets of Manchester after the job was done. Rrrrrroooooaaaaarrrrr!!! Oh yes! :P :P :P
-
Changed the centre section of the exhaust today.........one small step for your average mechanic, one giant leap for Graham-kind!!
Sounds grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat too!!
-
I did ask for the sales manager - she said they didn't have a Diana, and more than hinted that she (Debbie) was the sales manager.
-
What should I get that is guranteed to stop some brute nicking the truck/ is not too expensive / is readily available / and is quick and simple to fit???
-
BP Man, being the fussy sod that I am, I want new ones.........
I rang exmoor, tried to get hold of Diana, only to find that Diana was actually Debbie...........got the items gathered mataphorically and pleaded as only I can, and she said "No, sorry, we can't".
I'll probably still buy em......they do look the business, but I am a little annoyed at them and that might just spoil the pleasure of the purchase.
Haven't bought em today tho.
Hey ho.

Well, the part has arrived (the proper exhaust part!)..........so roll on the weekend!
-
Graham, why do you not want to go to Exmoor?
Is it a price issue? Or something else?
The quality of their work really is very good & well worth what you pay for it. They also have far greater product choice than anyone else.
Just beacuse it's £700 for five seat (and those are pretty much the cheapest ones), and when I rang them to see if there was any applicable discount, they said "you could have one if you were a dealer, but you're not, so you have to ask". And when I asked them by email, they replied
"
Hello Graham,
Thank you for your recent enquiry. I am afraid we are not able to offer you any discount on this order at this time.
If we can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards,

Or am I just being a tightwad?

DNA Trim..........if you email them you get your email is bounced with a "mailbox full" message, and their telephone number is "unobtainable".
anyone know anything?

I know it's not the biggest project for you total-engine-rebuild-boys, but the central silencer in my CSW 110 has two holes and I've decided to replace it (all the remaining parts have been recently replaced). Frankly for me it's about as brave as walking the plains of africa nekkid and covered in cow entrails.
I've ordered the part and the gaskets required, question for you is "Do I need to also use some sort of exhaust cement and if so, what is the product called and where exactly does it go..............(this will ruin my nails for sure ...........).
Thanks in advance.

My guess is that if bulbs are going that often it could be cheaper bulbs
The bulbs themselves are not failing, its just that they wont stay in the retaining holes - they just pop out after about 2 miles!!!
-
Any other supplier of decent quality seats chaps/chapesses?
-
I am absolutely fed up with the stop/tail light bulbs leaping out of the holders at every opportunity. The quality of these parts seems carp no matter who you buy them from - and I've bought a few sets!!!!
So I've ordered some LED ones from premierwiring.co.uk - 68 quid inc vat and post for the pair. Eek.
Here's hoping!
-
a
Factory reg number too.
Factory reg????
-
Aircon vehicle - yes.......but the aircon parts were removed before I got it. I would imagine it would cost a fortune to re-instate. Hey ho.
-
Sexy...
:P Perhaps not quite what I was expecting..............

Hi,
Got the truck back yesterday.......all was well. Out late last night and went to return home to find that I had no rear (red) lights.....although the brake lights still work, as do the indicators, number plate lamp etc.
Made for a tricky drive home.
Is it just a loose wire?
-
That is the correct part number for a non-A/C vehicle - A/C vehicles take the hideously expensive pumps!
-
Found 'em.........
Rear ADU6693L
Front DRC2713L
-
I do fancy a trip over.........but it's probably unlikely....
Also, is the part the same for A/C vehicles as non A/C??
-
Both types, for a 1989 CSW please.
Thanks guys!

I quite agree, the price of fuel is ridiculous........and it is difficult to see what can be done. Diesel is now at the £1.30 mark, and when I get my V8 back at least it runs on LPG.
The oil companies are making record profits........surely there's something there for you Gordon......
And for every 30p increase in a litre, the government rakes in an additional (just over) 5p in Value Added Tax.
I spend £140 per week to drive from Manchester to Sheffield, and it is starting to hurt.....
For every £1.30 litre, 57p is fuel duty and 19.5p is VAT, so 76.5pence straight to the government...
The OPEC countries are holding us to ransom; perhaps it's time we tell countries like Kuwait that next time the bad guys come to get them, we won't be sending our young men and women to die for their cause.....
Every day the general election gets a little nearer........vote with your pocket!
Now fully qualified....

fed up listening to the bores!!! HeHe
Ralph, I changed the central silencer, took me about 90 minutes just to undo the six rusty bolts, then I had a break of about and hour for tea, sandwiches and a trip to the motor factors for 6 2" 5/8" UNF thread bolts (although the ones I removed were UNC thread). Then it took me about 25 minutes to put the new bit in and tighten everything to death.
I must confess though, I did have the assitance of my 5 year old daughter, who at one point, when I asked her 11 year old brother to pass me a spanner, told him "George, that's not a spanner, that's a socket wrench"!!
