  1. X-Eng fan Switch

    Red%20Blu%20Lo.jpg

There's even a forum discount if you use the link in Si's signature. Don't bother buying a Kenlowe/Pacet, just raid the local scrapyard for something from a Citroen or Renault (you should be OK in France then!) as they have big slimline fans (made by Gate). Far cheaper than a kenlowe and from what I've heard they draw less current and are more reliable as they're OE.

Yep, allisport also do this type of switch and yes don't bother with the kenlowe/pacet unless you've got money to burn.

on my 200 tdi the fan only used to activate in the height of summer on long runs or in heavy traffic..

  2. THey will still ignore it - don't matter how many sign it. Remember the millions who marched against the war in Iraq and banning hunting? Fat lot of good it does. Even the government minister in charge of transport (Somebody-or-other Ladyboy I think it was) dismissed it as 'nonesense'

I wish I was wrong but the will do what they like to raise money and motorisrs can all go to hell.

Yes they will. I'm afraid peaceful protests in this country appear to be largely ignored..The big brother state is already here..

Where I live they've just come up with this

    smart arses

perhaps a good idea in some cases, but mainly a faster more efficient way of raising revenue for the council

  3. With mine, I ran the wires through transulcent washer tube to keep them tidy / protect from chaffing and easier to waterproof...

Additional benefit is that the tubing acts like optical fibre and "lights up" when the lights are on - Really "Pimp my Ride" stlyee... ;)

as promised, wiring not as "dope" as Fatboy's :D

  4. Met office have issued a weather warning forecasting heavy snow for the SW - esp the Bristol area....

won't hold my breath tho' ;)

    Weather Warning

    Matt

As long as it stays away from North London tonight - am out on the bike later - can do without the white stuff making my journey home a nightmare <_<

  5. so it's reasonable to expect a jump in membership on here again, as it seems from posts on the temp site that not everyone is happy with all of this.

    Would appear that way:

Most users ever online was 356 on Today, 01:17 PM

  6. I've had both option 1 and 2 on my 200tdi. I found the option 2 tended to block the flow of air to the radiator causing the water temp to rise to alarming levels (particularly on long runs and in the summer). I changed to an option 1 when went to a d44 recessed winch bumper setup. Fits neatly in where the original sat and no restricting of the airflow. Haven't measured the egt change between 2 and 1, but having the option 1 has got to keep the level more in check than a standard intercooler.

The power gains you get with these things are of course more to do with the pump tweaks and boost level adjust than the actual intercooler itself. I thought on a 300tdi you were supposed to leave the boost as standard (1 bar??)

  7. Who gives a f*** about the injuries to the thief. the moment they take something that isn't theirs they should automatically have NO rights left to them at all.

spot on.. criminals should not be allowed compensation in any form - it is the victims who should be compensated..

Using the same analogy next time you fancy legging it with someone's Landie just ensure you are not wearing a seatbelt and the police won't bother chasing you because if you crash and injure yoursel don't worry because you will be able to sue the cops. :o :o :o :o

Absolutely unbluddybelievable ..

If this kind of thing continues, we'll start to see the rise of vigilante groups - god bless america and it's sue culture!!

  9. I'm looking to replace my steering wheel from my 89' defender 90. I would like to find a smaller steering wheel that is not leather so it can take the wear from the rain and the sun. Any suggestions?

I've got a mountney - you can get them in vinyl leather or suede in a variety of sizes aswell. Have previously had a momo - didn't like the look of it in the truck though a bit too bling bling..

  10. How easy is spraying...?

As with most things you learn from your mistakes - best not to practice on your range rover sport!! :)

It's the prep work which is most time consuming - also usefull to have a dry / preferably heated indoor dust free space to do it in..

  11. It's not just the quality of the service, the product performs exceptionally well too. I have 2 pairs of the X-lites on my roof bar, the light is astonishing from such small, robust units. :D

Was trying to advise someone on lro to get himself a set and was told

"the smaller the lens/reflector the worse they are in performance wise...

thats why cibie (and other quality makes) use sod off large lens/refectors....

those shown on your link are just 12v downlight ceiling lamps in flash housing..."

    I beg to differ..

  12. So what would you do? Tell them to stop building things and becoming a developed nation, or lead the way and reduce our own emissions so that when their population (many times the size of ours) catches up with us, they're not belching out the same per capita emissions that we are?

I have no issue with low-emission vehicles, and I'd like to drive one. It's not the tailpipe that attracts me to LR, it's the off-road ability. The future is for lightweight vehicles with hybrid or fuel-cell powertrains, and I'm looking forward to it. Electric motors in each wheel - no more ARBs, locking diffs, broken halfshafts, and an ECU that you can reprogram with your own traction control or difflock. Lightweight, so better performance, hillclimbing and soft-ground ability.

Why whinge about incentives to make the world better? You can only do it through producing alternatives and taxing the incumbent, and sadly the stick has to come first to drive the demand to create the carrot.

    Turbocharger is 100% correct.

    sorry couldn't resist.. ;)

  13. I heard somewhere that China's CO2 output per person is only a fraction of ours - and minute compared to the States...

Not trying to make a point - just comment.

    Rog

you might be right there, of course the main driving force behind pollution is population growth - more people / more pollution. Between 1926 and 1997 the world population has doubled and it's still increasing at an alarming rate

  14. Have just purchased a set of x-lites 2 x flood and 2 x spot, unfortunately one of the wiring connectors became damaged in transit, one email to Si @ X-ENG and 24 hours later postie delivers not only a new connector, but a free x-cap aswell! I must say this level of service is unheard of these days.. If only more businesses were run like this.. Big up X-eng!! :D:D

  15. Have a search of the forum for leaking tyre beads on BFGs, it seems pretty popular and is more likely to be the problem with yours. See leaking Matt Lee rims for a potential culprit too. If you want to find your leak, apply a weak solution of washing-up liquid about the tyres, beads and wheel spokes, any leak will show up with a stream of bubbles. Bet you yours is the mud in the bead syndrome.

If you decide to junk the tyres, I'll have them for my trailer. ;)

    Chris

yes the mach 5's / leaking beads can definitely be a problem with this setup, but this is more a case of 32 psi to 0 psi in less than a mile.. have had one fixed (spare) and will get a new one from paddocks 89+vat (anyone know of a better price). may try and fix the other, if not you're welcome to it Chris

cheers for all the info guys..

  16. Do you really all believe that it is a good thing for people to drive 4x4s in cities when they have absolutely NO reason to do so?

(excepting all those reasons eg 101 kids, bikes, dogs, horses, boat, caravan, trips up mountains, membership of SAS)

There must be be SOME people we can agree look daft in their Nissan Navara?

WE might not want to ban them from existing but we still laugh at them.

We don't ban them from doing so COS WE DON'T LIKE BANNING THINGS not cos we agree with them!

If we can reach some consensus with those we currently regard as a threat this is progress in the right direction.

    For example:

Me, I want to run my 90 on biofuel, but at the moment it seems impractical.

Please can they make it easier for me to do so, eg. removing tax?

Yes, I'd love to throttle the little prat but it would only make ME feel better, not help the issue.

Knowing you're RIGHT doesn't mean you've won the argument.

If you are going down mob-handed, please don't make the mistake that many of the hunting lot made: that of getting a group mentality and looking for a fight.

Let him or his associates commit a crime - in front of witnesses, or gather evidence, then report him to the police. Do not confront him. Funnily enough this is what the anti-hunting lot are doing to the foxhunters...

Good luck to anyone in Bristol opposing this moron.

    spot on Mark..

  17. if only i could find a professional vulcaniser, i looked for ages before going for the bodge option on my spare.

Having the same trouble meself, search the net for one and you're more likely to end up at the star trek fan club!! :D
