  1. To calibrate a keyfob to an OEM Alarm you need to have a "security code". Is there anyway to find this 4 digit code with out going to the dealers/landrover

Basically is the code hidden in the chassis/ Vin/ other number combination found on a landie or will it always be a dealer job

  2. Well family -Dad Mum Swmbo, little 'un and me took trip up to North East to say adios to the rest of the tribe as it'll be along time before swmbo little 'un and me will manage to do it again. After all we leave for Canada next tuesday

Well I have be borrowing Dads defender 110 since I sold mine now it run faultless for me well apart from the initial engine trouble and replacement.

Now I gave dad my (his spare) keys back on friday since that was when my insurance ran out... Minutes later we set off to Saltburn-by-the-sea Spa Hotel AKA Fawlty Towers. Run up was fine and running about was fine sunday morning ready to come home dang immobiliser wouldn't turn off... opened up the keyfob found two of the three soldered connections holding battery in were broken.......... We had a meeting with family one last time so asked about no soldering irons so last ditch rang an old school mate and he had one whoopee resoldered the joints and went to local supermarket to get a cr2032 battery only they didn't have a battery  sold out so dad grabbed a cr2025 battery initially it worked after stopping for fuel but then after a quick stop for toilet and drinks etc it wouldn't go but I managed to get it to work by shorting out the battery to the metal bracket with my watches metal strap

anyway new cr2032 battery bought yesterday but still no joy with keyfob (spare set work fine)

But of all the things to stop you getting home

    YA JUS GOTTA LOVE LANDIES

on and the wrist my watch was on is giving me jip now

  3. Is there somewhere I can get the complete list of British standard symbols either in book or CD form

Obviously I'd rather not pay too much............ preferably nowt

Done a GOOGLE search but doesn't seem to pull up what I want.........

    Many Thanks

Also Anybody got the 16th IEE regs on CD as I lost me copy (book) and It's handy having a copy lying around

Can you get the regs on CD?

  4. Do you have to be in the UK to sell your house? Can't you dress it simply (makes selling LOTS easier!) and move out leaving the keys with the agent? Nothing worse than living in a house and having to keep it spotless in case of viewers. We had to do it for nearly a year when we sold our last house - having lost a buyer and the estate agent turning out to be scheisters.

    Chris

Have mortgage here that equates to 1/4-1/3 of monthly take home.... If i had to pay it in canada that'd be like 1/2 monthly income plus bank transfers fees

Renting market seems low in my area but house sales good

  5. Update Looks Like house sale has fallen through Because house buyer is unsure of her job now :angry::angry:

So now missus and little one are flying back in on thursday because to long to be apart till house re-sells and too bl**dy close to chrimbo

So I'm totally peed off over this

  6. Hey Red,

I have to disagree with you regarding the placement of the chains- lived in the alps for a couple of years, the very first year I put chains on the rear of a vehicle I almost killed myself (quite literally). For the next three years the one car that had to have chains on (because I couldn't be bothered to put snow tyres on) always had them on the front.

If you are coming down a steep hill you will find you have NO breaking and NO steering with chains on front. I believe The manufacturers tell you that chains should be on the back to preclude someone coming down a hill too fast and spinning out.

Next time I go over I'm going to take 2 sets I've decided- they are well the worth the money for the added power and security.

Sorry to me that doesn't make sense could you clarify the statement better

You put snow chains on rear and could not handle car?

You put them on the front and car handled better?

But if you put them on the front you have no brakes or steering?

Sorry having thicky moment today

or did you only ever drive up hill :P

  7. Somebody at a company I used to work for cleaned his rubber soled boot on a newly dressed wheel, all because he trod in dog dirt

Funnily enough his name was dudley and he was a complete dud in the head
