  1. Really good doshing about in the mud and your liable to find a good couple of wheel barrow fulls of dirt underneath so a good idea to wash where there is a good run off to get rid of all the waste, so avoid flat nice drives. UJ's as mentioned most important, re grease them.
  2. Both the wayfinder site have access problems even too Glass members, page errors, logging in. if you don't use it much or post one seems to be thrown off. The free site i find is full of inccurate information ranging from roads been tarmaced, shut, nimbies posting stories about lanes having no access or things like its muddy when its open and a hard surface. The Glass one I've been told one can get access for £5, but a cheaper method is to join a afficiated glass club and for a £1 get access that way, but the process takes time and does not always work. If your luckly and live in Cumbria one could use the excellent council site, there are other local club sites again with excellent up to date information, some other councils also publish routes, trick is finding there webpages.
  3. I've spent a good couple of hours now on this site, its good shame others can't do it. maybe a getting together of other interested groups in other areas.
  4. I did that once to my suprise was shown the full certificate ! I get asked quite a few times, surprises me the number of times strange people who I don't know ask me in car parks and the like. So tell them to go out with some commerical group and pay the £20-£30 for the day. Might be a shock to too all, but theres no local club which go laning, little of no activity with national groups within the local area. Quite a few laners are always moaning about commercial groups, but for many theres no alternative, what surprises us is the number of ex-club members who end up paying to go out with commerical groups. However there replies are often all on the same lines, joined a club/group paid money never went out, so end up paying a commercial outfit least we get out. Theres often other reasons, too extreme been one, groups within clubs not inviting novices out, lack of internet resoures, bad experances of rip off clubs/groups, and some just want day out once a year so why join a club.
  5. gaf-lad I know the site steep one with a camp field at the top, very cold in an exposed east wind but still a cracking site. Ultra- we I think paid £20, but where a bit miss-led we assumed it was a nice big quarry which used to be a cracking trail site, done a few trails there myself. We met there but went somewhere else, big let down, I've had more fun in a public beach car park on a sunday afternoon for FREE. Nought to do with ultra, but I've meet a bloke to paid £120 per day for following a chap on a couple of greenlanes, he sent me the MM cor-ords done them all since xmas for again FREE, haven't told him yet should I ?
  6. Well you won't be the first to moan afterwards its a case of pay your money and find out, but I know excatly what you mean, little or no value for money. Turn up in some c***** small field, watch a few get stuck, might get stuck once yourself, day wasted hanging around, wow !. Been there done that, in fact some of us at the end (mid afternoon) got so P**** off went off laning instead and all agreed enjoyed that far more at no cost some 8 hours later (mid night) than the morning waste of time effort and money. As for the site where was it ? and how much did you pay ? Often find if enough of you get together and go back it will be a faction of the price direct to the farmer and he throws in camping as well. Up to you to sort your own stuff out, far more fun. very few pay day sites would reckon any good in north or mid wales, toms is one, couple up north.
  7. Hi all. I'am new to all this having only ever gone out greenlaning with a group called simply 4x4 based in North Wales, have I done anything wrong with this as the owner provides you with a list of do's & don'ts and nothing about one way restrictions etc. I've been with him on most of the Wales runs and the peak district but never to the lakes, is this a local problem ? Only came on the forum as I do have a problem with it at the moment and that how I located this forum, so i'll be posting in the help section soon. Someone within simply 4x4 sent me a list of sites and was looking for the introductions do you have one ? . Regards andy
