  1. cracked as in, coolant still leaking in the block after new head gaskets
  2. it's an early 4.6 P38 engine..... probably nothing very useable... but to be sure I should get the block here, and get it opened up

  4. Hi, I bought a cracked rover 4.6 EFI serpentine engine (was in a P38) now, I've got a 3,9 multibelt engine. A friend of mine had heard that I could make the 3,9 into a 4.6 but wich are the modifications i would need to do to the 3,9? I'd like to keep the distributor for the moment, aswell as the V-belts... convert it to multibelt would be when i convert it to MS... All info is welcome!! kind regards Henry
  5. reconditioned torque convertor should be able to withstand 600hp.... the autobox itself, no idea.... but that's future planning....
  6. I was looking fo a LS1/6 turn key engine.... WITH ezEFI now i found the way to make it fit... engine +- 6000£ +mounts etc.... i think 8000£ all in.... now there is a plan, I can start developing it a bit more

  8. Hi, this might be a stupid question... but what engines do fot a rover ZF automatic without any modifications to the rover chassis etc? chevy small block? LS1-2-3 engine? small block? Big block? all info is welcome Kind regards Henry
  9. apparently the radiator was full of air.... stuck to the new aluminium said the rad-maker.... kouching stopped after changing lead from bobine to delcho :-)
  10. will do compression test this week... will go to look for a good way to bleed the system....again... :-) Will take off ALL the coolant and replace by new.... any idea how much can go into a 3,9? one more thing.... it's an auto box now... refurbished not clutch, but the auto box equivalent... now and then a hick-up like thong.... just a second.... gets enough air.... could this be not enough fuel is getting to the engine? mostly on +2500 rpm... thx

Hi, I've recently fitted a rover V8 into my '87 RRC... the engine was running great before removing it from the crashed RRC it was in... engine is a pre serp '94 3.9 Now, before I fitted it to my RRC i put on a new water pump, cleaned the engine.... put new oil in and filtert etc... renewed the gasket between the EFI and tre lower side of the blok (is this the head gasket?) now when I start the engine (cold) with expansion tank open, 20secs nothing, after that, on a very irregular basis air bubbels are niticeable... ONCE on temperature, I can open the expansion tank without any problem, and the, sometimes yes, sometimes not I can see air bubbling.... now, when the engine was revved higer for 5mins or so, there are MUCH more bubbles... of air... no mayonaise neither in the expansion tank nor the oil filler cap... Now, in the engine there is no water (not pure) but a micture of coolant ans water... (as was said to dilude on the box...) a friend of mine sait it was too much diluded, and therefor was making steam up in the engine, and so making the bubbles.... is this an engine for the rebuild? or could this be fixes with other coolant? Wanted to know first.... will test probably tomorrow.... Kind regards HJ
  12. what was I hoping to gain? Well... eermm..... a belt with less "cat noises" under the bonnet easyer belt swap when needed.... 1 belt to do it all.... and that's about it
  13. Hi, I'm looking to convert my '87 RRC V8 to serpentine V8-thing (how do you call this?) now, i've been searching this forum and others for more info, what to do, and how to do it... but I havn't found a really god "how to" - manual (and a "what NOT to forget" - list ) All info is welcome!
  14. Damn, another difference.... was for a friend of mine who was at a sortout, but differs also between TD5, TDI and older.... also disc/drum differences... I think he better tries to find them new... Thx HFH

I'm sorry for this misunderstanding.... my defender will be restored to factory settings as our system is f*ckd up here in belgium.... even placing better brakes isn't allowed.... will buy an old series one, and put a 5,0 TVR V8 in it, no one will ever ask questions in belgium..... since it has no paper wich says what engine was used in 1953... and the TD5 will serve his time as family bus
  17. actuelly as a series 1 but this way I wanted to see if it was possible to order a chassis WITH chassisnumber.... I would like to rebuild my 2001 defender onto a NEW galva chassis, but with papers Pre '69 so I avoid our strict form of MOT
  18. Hi guys, Can I order somewhere a chassis with the specs I'd like? A galvanised 110 TD5 chassis BUT with a certificate (or something like that) of the chassisnumber already stamped into it? Of corse this chassis wouldn't have a TD5 chassisnumber, but a pre '69 one... IS there a company who deliveres a chassis just like I want WITH chassisnumber already stamped into it?   21. Just My 2cents.... P.S. In my case, it was a study, trying to figure out if i could do it, but apparently in the whole of europe, but not in belgium.... Got the money for the conversion..... Will fit an R380 and a 3,9 V8 instead of the TD5, no problems with the kind of MOT we got here..... TD5 is impossible in belgium when fitted in a RRC

  23. well, since i'm from belgium, i can only use LR engine's.... and still, i can experience problems, as here we don't have your system of MOT in belgium we can't even lift the vehicle 2"..... Thx annywayz, is it had to be an engine from an other make, i'd go for the merlin engine
