  1. Yeah! A right hand drive 300 Tdi NAS looky likey Now ordered 2 anti-burst series door bottoms, galv cappings, rubbers, handles, check straps etc Also ordered a one piece TD5 rear door. Complete with glass, fittings etc and a new lock set. All I need now are some door tops (either military or rocky mountain), some Iron goat door panels, Some Exmoor interior matting and seats, a Galv chassis and a few service parts. If I had that stuff plus about a solid months worth of time then my little Rover would be ready for the road! Here's hoping that it's done for the summer! Alan
  2. Thanks Pete The car is for normal A road (not motorway) use, and for journeys of approx 50 miles a day. I will be fitting a clutch, slave, cambelt, water pump, big + main bearings etc whilst the lump is on the bench Alan
  3. Hi there, I am going to build an indestructable (in normal use) 90 I have a 1994 300tdi hardtop in arles blue as my starting point, and have started to buy some stuff for the project. It is going to be a nas replica and has to be driven as my daily car, so it must be a good job. Questions I have which need answered soon are as follows: Can I buy the 1 piece pressed alloy rear door anywhere easily and can be bought WITHOUT the holes for a spare wheel mount? Is it easy to convert my 90 to accept series doors? Who is best to buy a mildly customised galv chassis from? What external rollcage is best and looks most like a nas one? How should I bolt things together to prevent corrosion (sikaflex, teflon washers?) What is the best transfer box ratio to use? 1.22 or 1.4? Where can i buy a heated front screen? What is the best cavity wax protection? What refurb work should I do the engine and axles whilst they are off? Should I use copper or stainless brake pipe? I need the questions about the doors answered pretty urgently but everything else can wait! Thanks Alan
  4. Hello. I need to get a spare key cut for my Dec 1995 Disco ES. Does this car have a transponder key or just a normal key? How much would it cost and can I get the key programmed off the key number rather than copying the original key? Thanks Alan
  5. Costly Mine appears to be the ABS pump fuse in the under bonnet fusebox blowing. Maybe the pump motor is on the way out. Any ideas?
  6. Hi there. My Disco is a December 1995 (96 model year) 300 series ES V8i which I have since retrofitted (NO WIRES CUT!!!) with a 300Tdi from a 1995 GS vehicle. So now it's a 1996 ES Tdi The error on the diagnostic machine says "pump running when not switched on" I have tried swopping some of the under dash relays and the wabco ecu with ones from another scrapper disco but it has made no difference. I have also tried putting power to the pump out under the bonnet and it kicks into life so I presume it works ok. If I disconnect things, like the pump or ecu, leave it a while and then plug them back in, the fault clears and the vehicle drives correctly. The instant that I stop and restart the engine though the light is back on What is wrong? Please help. Only one week until my MOT and I need the car !!!
  7. I would say those are the LR part no's. The previous ones are the wabco no's Any ideas on how to get it working. Could it be the wabco ECU?
  8. Hi there. Would anyone know why I am getting this pump power stays on error? I don't understand it? Could it be a wiring or fuse problem or something?
  9. Thank you for this. Would you have the Land rover part numbers for both? Is there any reason why it would not be working right? Can I interchange them?
  10. I have a faulty ABS pump in a disco it is Part ANR4637. Is ANR2901 interchangeable with this?
  11. I am in Londonderry Northern Ireland, so I will have to fix it properly. The pump says ANR4637 on it, whereas a spare pump I have says ANR2901 on it. Hmmmmm They look the same. Can I use it?
  12. Hi there. My Discovery ABS Light stays on. When I had it connected up at the dealers it says that the pump power stays on after vehicle stopped (or something like that) Do I need a new pump or what is the most likely problem? Could it be a fuse or a relay or something? Alan
  13. Hi all, I have a 1996 Disco 300 series V8 Manual ES model and I am converting it to 300Tdi Power. I have the engine mounts changed, the gearbox changed, the slave cylinder changed, the petrol engine loom disconnected and removed, the propshafts changed, the suspension changed and the exhaust changed. All I need to do now is change over the tank sender unit and change over the engine wiring loom. Heres where the problems and the questions begin. The old V8 multiplugs (white one and brown one) have more wires than the 300Tdi ones. The white plug has 18 wires in it versus 9 in the diesel and I think the brown one has 2 more wires in it. I need a diagram which shows me all the wires going in to these plugs so as I can take the bare plug off the v8 loom and prong the Tdi wires in to the appropriate place. My car has aircon and I made sure that the loom I got was from an aircon car with the extra yellow relay etc. The only thing my new loom does not have that my old one did is the immobiliser section, but who needs that! No-one wants to steal a 12 year old disco! Help would REALLY be appreciated. Alan - yellowmitch@gmail.com
  14. Hi there, I am converting a 1996 ES disco to 300TDI. I have the engine mounts changed already (welded to chassis ) and am now at the point of changing the loom over. Can anyone help?
  15. A wee bit of help with this one would be great. I have discovered that I will need a different A/c compressor and pipes, the Tdi crossmember, weld on new engine mounts, change the accelerator cable and a few other bits. What about the electrics though? Thanks Alan
  16. Hi there. I have a '96 V8i ES discovery which I want to convert to 300Tdi within the next 2 weeks. I also have a scrap '96 300Tdi GS to act as the donor vehicle. I should have all the neccessary parts. What work is involved? Do I need to weld any mounts on? Alan
  17. Hi all, I have a '96 Disco 300 series 3.9 V8 manual. It's imacculate, but I want it to be a Tdi. I also have a scrapper disco 300Tdi XS of the same age and also in manual. The scrap XS has ALL the neccesary parts (I beleive) What do I need to do to make it all happen? Finally, would anyone be able to answer 2 questions :- Can I get the Cruise control working with the tdi? Would anyone have an aircon compressor bracket for me to install the aircon compressor on the tdi with?
  18. Thats the one. I have the heated glass from the old rotten one!!
  19. Well, I know that it didn't come in yellow!....... But........ I want mine to I just really need to know what bits I need for the doors. I can make the panels real easy myself (have done it loads of times on series vehicles before) I also know that I will need the glazed top, the lock/handle, the striker, the check strap thingy, the rubber seal between the 2 halfs and then finally the bottom half itself! Did you mention that I need some other seal or something? What about the back door? Is a £60 quid affair suitable for the job?
  20. Hi there. I have recently picked up a '95 300Tdi 90 in arles blue. Engine and running gear is fairly good and just needs minor fettling. Bulkhead, floors, tub etc are also all good. It needs a Drivers side outer wing skin, 2 front doors, a rear door, a rear crossmember, a hub seal, some lights, new suspension and a few other tidy ups. I want it to look expedition style, kinda like the tomb raider one and have decided to paint it Inca Yellow with a black roof. What I think I wanna do though is fit series III anti-burst locks and door with military door tops (I have a set of these) I also want to know if I can buy a £60 paddock rear door and bolt that straight on? What parts do I need to enable the front doors to fit and work? What suspension do you guys reccomend? (on road, towing a boat) (Monroe shocks, britpart yellow std height springs?) I also wanna do up the interior and want to go down the exmoor trim road. Thinking of that acoustic matting they do and some retrim kits, a forward facing rear seat and a 3 man bench seat on the opposite side Will this all work. Post any pics or ideas you may have. Thanks lots Alan
  21. OK. Going to look at the 300 tomorrow. It's a 1995, so I hope that means no cat, no ecu and no egr. If the chassis is savable (i.e. a crossmember) then I will fix this just to get it on the road. I will then tidy the bodywork as it is (dark blue) do my interior mods, change the wheels, sort the mechanicals etc. I will see how long it will live like that and buy the parts like the chassis, doors etc as I go along. In an ideal world it would be yellow and galvanised within approx one year!! p.s. How many types of bulkhead are there? is there just early and TD5? or is there more than 2? Maybe the bulkhead that is in it would be worth Galving? Who knows? It's a one owner from new vehicle so thats good
  22. Well, it's coming from a Landy dealer whom I know VERY well It's coming to me trade and is filthy you see! Hence why it is cheap P.s. I love this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-LAND-ROVER-DEFE...1QQcmdZViewItem
  23. I got this idea because I LOVE the NAS 90!! I have just been offered a 1995 300tdi defender 90 with discs all round locally for a good price. It needs 2 wings, possibly some doors and the back xmember replaced. I can buy it for around £1000 and could use this as my basis. Should I?
  24. I must actually admit you see that I LOVE the 'psst' noise (hence why I want it) Ps Nige, you seem to already be driving my dream!! I don't think my overall ideas are too far off the mark do you?
