  1. I once had a set of BFG muds in 33/10.50/15 and had to trim the rolled edge off the rear arches as well as a camel cut, extended bump stops. Still rubbed on full articulation. The tyres got quite cut up on the rear where they rubbed. I took them off and went down to 265/70/16's
  2. Another good tip is to have a magnet by the side to catch the swarf. As its in the head you dont want any straying. Lots of rags covering the area is a must too.
  3. Ive done a 300 conversion on mine and it aint as bad as some think. Engine mounts need to be moved back and new hoses made up and the viscious fan is to big so remove it and fit a leccy one. Fabricate an exhaust wire it up, Sort out the fuel lines and jobs a goodun. Where are you mate?
  4. Then there is the other sort of customer who will ask you to change one side but not the other !! I am also time served but ended up in the office due to a spinal injury but still manage to do my own repairs/servicing. I also do a bit for mates and am always willing to help anybody out but there are limits. If you want your land rover to last you have got to be prepared to spend a few quid on its upkeep. My own 90 celebrates its 18th birthday in june and its not got there by scrimping on repairs. My dad taught me at an early age to do a proper job or get somebody else to do it. Unfortunately its a cruel world and not everybody you trust to do the job your paying for does it right. BUT, there are many good garages out there and you just have to run the guantlet to find them. There is also TRADING STANDARDS to go to if you are not happy with your repairs.
