  1. with that on the rear-end, to stay legal it should have a rear lighting board [trailer one will do] & a rear number plate, lots of cars with pushbikes on rear racks don't bother, but the rear lights obstruction doesn't help other roadusers.

Yes, used to live near Grafam Water, the police on duty in the car park couldn't keep up with ticket writing .....

  2. A little bit OT but I am looking for a towing bracket mounted scooter carrier for my LR and other 4X4.

There seem to be several out there for motorhomes but seem hugely over engineered for a 90 kilo scooter.

I know I could fab something using tube like this US type, just wondering where to start in terms of materials, I think it needs to be steel, just looking for a balance between strength and weight.

    .Any thoughts appreciated!

  3. Guys, just the advice I was looking for cheers.

Fridge, I bow to your superior knowledge, after I've spent too much time faffing with a spray gun, i'll revert to the old brush and olive drab!!!

Point taken about the 80 grit, will leave that for just repair spots. - if I'm just flatting/keying old paint and not going to bare metal, do I just put the high build straight onto that? and miss out the etch layer?

The panels are many different colours some of the paint is better than other bits, so I'll play it by ear.

I've got a new door and 2 extra wings I can practice on before I hit the truck properly, I've got a double garage which I was planning on building a booth in one corner. was going to hook up an old radiator fan for some ventilation.

With regard to paint supply, has anyone got any reccomendations?

I use enamel paint, but there are plenty of other options.

  4. i have a compressor 150ltr 2h.p 7.5a .and i hava a genarator cassoline 5.5h.p 230v 3A on normal plugs 3 PLUGS SINGLE PHASE + 1 PLUG 3 PHASE but the compressor isn`t working when i plug it on a normal plug of the genrator. the compressor is 230v and i`m scared to plug it on the big plug of the generator because it has 400v 16a what can i do pls?

The compressor definitely will not work on a 3A supply since it is drawing 7.5A! If the 3 phase supply has a neutral then then you could tap 230v between one phase and neutral but this will create a (very) unbalanced load and will overheat the alternator.

In simple terms - You have a 3 phase generator, very useful if you need it, for example for a 3 phase lathe. It is no use to you. Sell it on ebay and buy a single phase generator.

  5. I would have thought that Australia, with it's fierce independence streak, would have been able to resist this rush to mediocrity.

Perhaps it is time to educate, organize and lobby, perhaps the mining companies would be a starting point? If they are limited in what they can drive it may have a competitive disadvantage?

Or try and get a SVA/IVA type exception in the legislation?

Sorry for the rant, but this sort of nonsense really upsets me, do you know that the EU are starting down the road to ban motorbikes? Because they are unsafe.
