  1. It's not the block so much as the injector pipes and rail. When we had -20 a couple of weeks ago I lifted the bonnet to find everything sparkling and white with frost, even inside the vehicle was white. I had to put a fan heater on the top of the engine to get it to run.

Since then I have been using an anti-waxing additive which seems to be working (I'll find out in the morning!) I just want to keep the frost off the pipes and rail without having to keep putting a fleece over the engine overnight. Rocky

  2. Hi, a couple of weeks ago I had problems with my 90's diesel freezing. After a bit of searching I came across "stanadyne performance formula" diesel additive which is supposed to help prevent diesel gelling and waxing.

I bought a 235 ml bottle to try, which treats 120 litres. It can be bought online at www.dieselpartsdirect.co.uk, although I managed to get mine at my local LR agents. It is a lot cheaper on the net.

Hope this maybe some use. Regards, rocky

  3. Thanks western, I have that but it gives the wiring in a tabulated form rather than the older type which showed the cables going to different parts of the vehicle. I was looking for diagrams similar to the ones in the back of Haynes Manual, which are easier for the layman to follow.

    Regards, rocky

  4. When the diesel my 300tdi froze, lost power but managed to get home by running on tickover in low range. The pump was really noisy, so bad that I thought it was shot.

Changed the fuel filter and put the vehicle in a warm garage till it thawed out. Never had another problem. rocky
