  1. That is what i will do then. Many thanks, Rocky
  2. I have looked everywhere. I did see a picture of a puma centre dash removed--i'm not going there. Couldn't see the bulkhead either, just more plastic. It looks like wireless lights or just having the spots go on and off with the main beam. Is it legal to have spots without a switch? rocky
  3. Does anyone have a wiring for a defender puma. I have decided to try and get a switch wire through the bulkhead--not looking forward to unscrewing the dash as the heater controls, radio and godknows what else is in there!! Rocky
  4. I presume the frquency will be printed on the transmitter, if it is I will post it when I receive the lights. Rocky
  5. Hi, Just checked with the distributor, so I think I'll go for it. Rocky
  6. Thanks for the replies, I'll check with the Warn distributer as to the frequencies--I suppose I could wire them through a relay to come on without a switch to save taking the dash out. Rocky
  7. Would the frequency make much difference? As to passing a switch wire through the bulkhead--where on the puma without drilling? rocky
  8. Hi, Has anybone fitted a set of Warn wireless driving lights? They look ideal for me as I don't want to go through the bulkhead with the switching wire. Any help/ideas greatly appreciated. Regards, Rocky
  9. Hi, Could someone please tell me how to remove the cooling fan on my 90 puma. On the front of the fan (looking towards the engine) there is an arrow pointing anti-clockwise. On my old 300tdi I just used a 32mm spanner and tapped it clockwise to undo the nut but this one doesn't want to shift and I don't want to do any damage hitting it the wrong way. Any help greatly appreciated. Regards, Rocky
  10. thanks for the replies, i'll probably stick with genuine ones. rocky
  11. Hi, does anyone have any idea what sort of service life I would get from fitting pro comp es9000 standard length shocks. Mostly road work, with some forestry tracks now and again. I don't want to spend a fortune as I am buying a new set of wheels and tyres. The ones fitted are getting tired. Regards, Rocky
  12. White grease in lock barrels and silicone grease on door seals. Rocky
  13. Hi, I took off the radiator cowling on my puma 90 and found the radiator full of dead flies and rubbish etc. What is the best way to get them out as there is hardly any room between it and the intercooler. I thought about washing them out with the garden hose or using compressed air--I don't want to do any damage. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Regards, rocky
  14. Hi, thanks for the replies, the garage put a tester on to the computer but no fault came up. The only thing I can think of is a problem with the fuel itself. Apparently it was fueled up at Morrisons and refused to start a short time after. There was just under a 1/4 of a tank of fuel in before filling. rocky
  15. Hi , A friend has a td5 which will not start unless easystart has been squirted into the intake, then it will run normally. Any pointers greatly appreciated. Regards, rocky
  16. Two years or so ago I had a quote from the main agents to skim the head and replace the gasket on my 300tdi and they wanted the best part of £800. Needless to say I did it myself--took me seven hours of labour and about £90 for the the pressure test and skim. Regards, rocky
  17. Thanks for all the replies. I used to have a cb back in the early eighties when I used to commute from Aberdeenshire to Leicestershire. I found it invaluable for getting round traffic jams and getting road conditions in winter. I realise the major problem with defenders is the lack of ground plane, but hopefully I'll get round that by running an earth to the chassis. Regards, rocky
  18. Thanks for the reply,it was very informative. There is a defender about a mile away from me which has twin aerials on the back. I wondered if there was any benefit from having the two (it does look balanced). The reason I am going to fit a cb in my 90 is because the road I have to travel to work has virtually no mobile phone reception. It's a bit remote and gets badly snowed over in the winter. There are wood lorries and gamekeepers about that have cb's plus a few homebases. I have decided on fitting a "Lafeyette venus" as the box can be easily hidden, just remove the mike which has all the controls. Regards, rocky
  19. Hi, Is it possible to fit twin antennas to a cb and if it is, will it increase signal distance? Regards, Rocky
  20. Hi, Does anyone have a part no. for the plastic bonnet prop clip--garage broke mine today. Rocky
  21. Hi, Thanks for all the replies. Got the 90 back this afternoon--tank drained--line flushed and new fuel filter. Runs fine, hope it stays that way. Regards, rocky
  22. Thanks for the replies, I'll post the results. Rocky
  23. There would be just over half the amount of petrol to diesel. Does the petrol wreck the pistons etc.
  24. Hi, can anyone tell me what damage I will have done putting petrol in to my defender puma and running it for about 7 miles? It ran ok just noisy. My big worry is what it will have done to the pump, as it is lubricated by diesel oil. Soon as I realised what I had done I stopped and had the vehicle recovered. It is at the garage now and hopefully drained etc tomorrow. I had 4 gallons of petrol for my generator alongside 5 gallons of diesel. I'll not make that mistake again. Any thoughts greatfully received. Rocky
