  1. I lubricated the cam buckets with oil and although i removed the cams from the cylinder head, I left them assembled in their mounting rail so that I could not get the cams muddled up and round the wrong way. I have scince stripped the cams out again to check that the oil ways were clear from any blockages and re assembled them again, but with the same noisy result.
  2. Hi I have just changed the head gasket on a freelander 1.8. The timing is spot on yet i have a top end noise coming from the cam area when the engine is revved above 2000 rpm I have the cams the right way round and in the right order. Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this noise. Steve
  3. I have just rebuilt the cylinder head on my 1.8 engine. The timing is spot on and there are no sticking valves and it seems to run happily at idle yet if you rev the engine there is a metalic rattling sound coming from what sounds like under the cam cover. I am pulling my hair out trying to find the reason. everything seems to be fine, yet no matter what i do this noise is still there. Has anyone else experianced this or have any idea what it could be? Cheers Stevelurpak
  4. I have exactly the same problem! Would you mind telling me how to fix it? Cheers
