According to the LR service the gear box oil should be replaced at 96,000 miles. Boys in the garage know me pretty well so won’t be upsetting them using my own oil , 😂

Morning Folks, The hippo goes in on Monday to get a New Clutch Master Cylinder , Slave & Clutch ,fingers crossed it goes smoothly and I’m back on the road asap. Question I have is would I need to replace the Transfer & Gear Box Oil & if so how much would I need & what brand and grade to go for ? Reason I’m asking is I would rather supply the garage with oil than be charged double 😂 Its a 2004 Manual with 85K on the clock

Evening, If I am having to go down the road of a New Clutch for my 2004 Diesel , can anyone recommend a good brand or send me a link , I was told you can get a Heavy Duty clutch also ? Stealers are around £235.00

Could it be Master Slave Cylinder ?

Hey Folks, Advice required , was driving up quite a steep slope today and had to pull over to let a Fiat 500 through , went to take off again but the car struggled hell of a lot. Managed to get the car up the slope but bad smell of clutch due to lack of power , now when I was over taking the Rev counter was hitting high but the Speedo took a while to catch up , only started to play up today. I did fill up with TESCO Fuel last night but not sure if that could be the cause. Any help or advice appreciated before I book it into the stealers lol , oh it’s a 2004 TD4 Diesel. Thanks

Evening Folks, Getting a new master Cylinder Fitted to the Hippo this weekend as the pedal is getting a bit spongy.

I have attached a couple of images to help with what I’m saying. Now I’m having issues with keeping the bulb in place since the retaining plastic clip has snapped off from the headlamp. I have circled it in red to show the problem & the image below shows how it should look like. Can anyone advise how else I can hold the bulb in place , cheers.

Forgot to ask is this quite common to fail & what causes it to fail ?

Hey Folks , Looking for advice , own a 2004 FL 1 Diesel from new & just covered 85,000 miles with FSH. Noticed a few weeks ago when I am changing gear the pedal does come back up but occasionally I have to put my foot under the pedal to hear it click I would say about 0.5CM to bring it back to normal sitting position. Put it to the local garage and without taking it for a run said the clutch is starting to wear, never towed or been off road with it. I have no Clutch Fluid loss and not sure what to do or replace first. Got a quote from the local Stealers on Genuine parts etc see below . Flywheel - £749.59 Flywheel Bolts - £17.68 Clutch Kit - £199.35 Clutch Bolts - £9.60 Slave Cylinder - £148.92 Master Cylinder - £133.24 Labour - £900.00 Plus 20 % Vat Nearly the price of a FL 1 . Would appreciate any advice as not wanting to get rid of the old deer either. Regards, RizzleKicks

The plastic hinge is part of the headlamp and after time becomes brittle and snapped off.

Evening Folks I currently have a 2004 Freelander , I went to change the H7 bulb that had blown , now I got the cover off and when I went to unclip the metal spring that holds the bulb in place it came away from the body of the lamp broke off. Such a poor design now what can I use to hold the bulb in place ? Regards, RizzleKicks

Bearings were replaced today and the noise has disappeared but now i have encountered another fault . When i start to drive in 1st , 2nd or 3rd gear i feel as if the car is going to stall or a better way of explaing the feeling is when you first start to learn to drive and you lift your foot of the clutch to quick and dip it again feeling a juddering.Now i have had the VCU & IRD replaced 2 years ago. Will be going back to the garage in the morning. Could replacing the bearing could have caused this? I just need to know what to ask the mechanic who carried out the work before he fobs me off.Is it possible the bearings could be put in wrongly ? Vehicle has just covered 70KAny advice would be appreciated.Cheers ,

Evening folks , Finally got a mechanic to look at the issue and it's the Prop Shaft Bearings have started to split causing the annoying sound. Replaced these 2 years ago for genuine ones from Stealers £86 Each and only lasted 2 years and covered 20,000 miles surely they meant to last a lot longer than that ??

Evening Folks , Looking for some advice , the old Hippo has started a thundery Grumble when turning right, notice it more on roundabouts not full lock but as good as. Now it's seems to be coming from the passenger side rear . This is intermittent. Now I had the IRD & VCU replaced 2 years ago. Had a look under the motor today and the rear differential side mounts are solid . CV boots look ok as well. Can anyone advise what else to look out for before I put it into the Stealers Regards, RizzleKicks

Afternoon Folks, Mechanic went to replace the Drivers side bulb on the 04 FL and he has broken the hook that is attached to the headlamp which is used for the metal clip to hook on too. I took a look at it and I don't think you can get a repalcenmnrnt part as its moulded onto the rear of the headlamp. Now what can I do to fix this or is it a case of a new Head Lamp? RizzleKicks

Afternoon, Am looking at installing a heated front screen on my 2004 FL and am needing to know what all I need , I already have the screen & believe I need the wiring loom , Relay & Switch if I require anything else can you also let me know along with part numbers . RizzleKicks

Morning Folks , A belated Merry Christmas. Am having an issue with my 5 Dr FL's central locking. When the FL is started and in motion I will lock the doors from the drivers side door card and after a while the CL will start to lock & unlock constantly, the pegs don't go down but the sound of the CL goes on. Now if I pull up at a set of lights the CL will behave itself but as soon as the FL is on the move again it starts to play up. This has just started a month ago and have had the vehicle 11 months. I had disconnected the CL button from the driver's side thinking this could be the culprit & use the passenger side button to lock & unlock the doors would have worked but NOPE still the same issue. I also made sure the spades on the wiring were tight as thought they may be loose and causing the problem but no joy. This is so annoying and I would like this sorted for the safety of the other half especially when she is using it in the evenings. Have changed key fob battery but this made no difference as another site suggested I try that first. Hope someone can shed some light on this issue or what I should check first or may need ordered. Also where is the best site to order parts from that wont be costly ? I was warned buying a LR is costly . RizzleKicks

Hey Guys , Both my rear windows on my 5 Dr FL1 2004 model have stopped working, now i have contaced LR Stealers and they are awfully pricey for new regulators if thats what the fault is , or could it be something else thats failed ? If it is the regulators can anyopne advise me where i can decent quality Window Regs from without paying through the roof ? Ta RizzleK

Hey Guys , Just new to the Freelander and am looking for some help . I want to install a Heated front Screen to my 2004 FL1 and was wondering if this is possible and would this be done ? I believe I will need a Relay & Heated Screen Button , will the loom already be in place and if so where can this be found. Also will i need it programmed in for it to work ?
