Uncle Denzil
The wife has a 2007 2.4 diesel exMOD 90. She is now complaining of a noise under the bonnet immediately after switching off the engine! It is a series of clicks accompanied by a whining noise which lasts for about fifteen seconds. It appears to be coming from the right hand side of the engine! She says it’s getting louder? It’s not the viscous fan. I've had Range Rovers so new to Defenders and know little about them! So help and advice from you all would be appreciated! Also would someone recommend a mobile mechanic or garage around the East Grinstead, Kent, Sussex borders she could take it to? Thanks!! BogMonster
It's normal, it is the turbo modulator and/or EGR doing its shutdown cycle. Mine does the same (though it is a 2015 2.2). Can be a bit squeaky at times, mine was a bit loud when I bought it but has quietened down recently.
