AD74925
Hi all, Im new here so apologies if ive put this in the wrong category or group.. Yesterday evening i was washing the Disco off and noticed my passengers side rear spring was hanging out.. on further inspection i noticed that the top of the shock absorber has pulled out the mounting.. i didn't manage to get a photo of mine but did find another online. I can't for the life of me work out why this has happened and just wondered if anyone could shed some light please? Truck specs below... Terrafirma 2" Lift Heavy Load spring and shocks. 2" Lift blocks -2" Shock turrets on the front -2" Shock mounts on the rear 6 Degree Correction radius arms Gwyn Lewis Wide Angle Prop Shafts 285/75/16 on 8J 16" -35ET Thanks In Advance
SPendrey
I'm afraid to say this isn't the first time I've read of this happening with Terrafirma shocks, where the eye is poorly welded to the top of the shock.

Thankyou for the reply. I did think this if im honest, would you just recommend changing brand of shocks?
SPendrey
There are plenty of people who've been using Terrafirma without issues. I noticed on Facebook post the company remind people that the washers retaining the top ring/bushes must be convex side inwards, flat side outwards, to allow the shock and bush to move slightly. They attributed a failure just like yours to "incorrect fitting". https://www.facebook.com/Terrafirma4x4/posts/terrafirma-shock-fitting-lessonthe-first-2-pictures-show-a-correctly-fitted-rear/10152322875954603/
AD74925
I understand, I used terrafirma on my discovery 2 and I never had any issues with them In the 70k miles I had them that's why I went and used them again. That's a good post you have shared, I have checked and confirmed mine are fitted correctly, hopefully it was just a bad shock absorber 😂 I'll get another ordered and go from there. Thsnk you for your response SPendrey it's appreciated
