Is there anyone who has tried to put a discovery TD5 automatic ZF24 gearbox into a defender with the electrics? If so is it possible? Were there any problems? How did you manage? BogMonster Posted March 26, 2007 Share Posted March 26, 2007 I should talk to Ashcroft Transmissions as I believe they do ZF gearbox conversions on Td5s, though I think they probably use the hydraulic box for simplicity. I think the Td5 Discovery box is the 4HP22 anyway (though it is electronically controlled) and the HP24 is only used on 4.6 V8's, though I stand to be corrected on that - but in any case if you wanted to plant the whole electronic control system in a Defender you might need to put the Discovery controller area network in and I suspect that would be fun - probably not impossible, but probably not easy either!
