Winch Motor Testing

Recommended Posts

I mate has given me a GEW9000 to look at. There's a fault with the solenoid pack, its not out-putting power a you'd expect.

Ive tested the motor with jump leads, but the motor still doesn't turn.

I linked F1 to A & put a +ve to F2 with the earth on the earth bolt.

Then did the same but linked F2 & A, but nothing happend.

Is there some tests i can do with a multi meter to check the condition of the motor.

Ive pulled the motor apart & the commutor rotates freely & the drum rotates.

Thankyou in advance.

You could check for continuity, (and find there is none if the motor really is dead) between F1 & F2, and A and ground.

Make sure the terminal posts really are clean, I looked at a motor once where the terminals looked clean, but were in fact covered in oxidisation (not rust) and had v.poor contact.
