disco tony Posted November 10, 2007 Share Posted November 10, 2007 I have been having increasing difficulty getting box into 4th. (defender 200 tdi lt 77 box, 170k on odo.) If I force it into 4th, it's then a bugger to get back out. It's so bad now I just go from 3rd to 5th etc. Someone suggested the bias plate but I had that out today and the problem seems to be on the internal selectors? If this is so, is it repairable or should I start looking for a box on ebay. If it is repairable, is it a box out job or is it a simple fix for a "mechanical novice like wot I are?" A few phone-calls to local gearbox specialists and it sounds like a selector fork fault so looking like a new (replacement!) box. Can anyone beat £350 for a recon one or preferably has anyone got a second hand one to sell? it must be a short shaft LT77, a disco box will not fit. The closer to Bristol you are the better!!
