We have a MEWP which is exempt from tacho, plating and can use red. A mate of mine runs a concrete pumping business and they are exempt the same, run on cherry and you can drive a 24 tonne lorry on a car licence, weres the logic behind that?. Whats a MEWP ? We are tacho excempt by virtue of No.7 on that list , Maintenance and repair of utilities services , Water and Gas is our forte. Company I worked for ran Tarmac Hotboxes , These were ran on cherry , No O licence , No hgv licence ,No MOT and only £150 to tax a 26 tonner for twelve months . Classed as road construction plant , theres the loophole . A mate has his own white lining company , and he runs his 18 tonner on the same rules .
