Gizzard Puke
Hi all, My 1997 300tdi discos heater is just blowing cold air thru the heater and only gets luke warm after along time, also when I checked the water at the header tank when it was cold it kicked out a load of water out the tank, are these two related if so could it be the thermostat at fault or is it some thing worse ? The car s running fine and is not overheating. Cheers all, Trev
Les Henson
Sounds like classic compression loss into the cooling system to me, but it could be an air lock. Drain the system, start the engine, and then slowly fill it. Try replacing the thermostat, or at least test it in a pan of boiling water. Les. JimAttrill
The Y piece in the thin pipes also gets blocked sometimes and this can cause strange effects. Blow it out with an air line - there is nothing in it, no non-return valves or anything like that. This is especially prone to happen where owners have let the antifreeze percentage drop and the coolant has gone rusty.
