jerboa
Ive had a good look round my crank pulley, and cant find any timing marks at all.. just a slot/groove about 5mm wide... how do i find TDC? how to accuratley time it? I need to know as Ive fitted an RPI dual timing amp+coil after a break down and the sodding thing wont start/run at all. it coughs occasionally but thats it..? arrgghhh!! Roverdrive
Try cleaning the pulley up with emery as the marks should be there. Can't look at mine to give you a clue as to how far they are from the groove you mention, as I am too far away.
SteveRK
Mine has the 5mm groove - i think the timing marks will be to the right side of the groove when viewed with it at the top looking down at the pulley. The marks are very lightly scribed.
steve_d
Just been out to roll under the motor and have a look. Using Mark I eyeball I would say the slot is about 40 degrees before TDC. As has been said the marks are very light. Steve
460SEi
Hi, My experience of these timing marks has shown they can be a mile out anyway so I would suggest removing number one spark plug and put a probe of somekind down the bore and determine exactly TDC and then make your own marks on the pulley. You're then guaranteed to know TDC rather than relying on possibly incorrect pulley markings. Cheers
