bobjacko Posted March 29, 2008 Share Posted March 29, 2008 My 80 inch series 1 has developed a 'clatter' from, I beleive, the transfer box ?? - It sounds like the 2/4 wheel drive selector is partially trying to engage? The noise practically disappears when I engage 4 wheel drive, but not always completely? - It is fitted with a series 2/2a box I think - (dipstick on top) mounted to a v8 3.5. Series ones had the dipstick. any chance of hearing a recording? like on youtube or something? is the yellow knob popping up correctly or seized? Thanks 80inch, sorry for delay in reply - must be series 1 box , with dipstick then - have added oil through filler hole in top of transfer box - unable to find any level plug though, so guessing level - yellow & H/L lever both working fine. Will try draining & refilling with 2.5 litres EP90, which I believe to be correct amount. If still persisting will get a recording to you.
