Anyone interested in coming over to play in a 24hr event with a couple of GPS points to gather in some bit of countryside may like to know the dates for this years event are 3-5/10, Last year was quite diverse with forest, quarry, yarg and plop. I would like to enter the STD class with little Zuk although wont be allowed to do all points as have no roll cage so only get limited points. However there are still plenty to go round! just need a nav/muppet for the other seat ;)

Was planning on sweet talking Severi the guy who rides ATV's about either one of his trucks or a trailer to move it there and back. mmm he maybe keen to NAv  at least he has done Warn trophy a few times so knows whats in store! a bonus i fear! on plus side if we can badger Seve we can get nice truck (he be in charge of haulage firm!) rather than the 50p steering thing that was so pleasant to drive!!

I make provisional calls today i think! Last year he spoke of buying a truck with Hiab on back and just lifting everything on back!!

nothing beats the Klap'!

Finland Trophy web-pages will be open in this month. I call to Mikkeli yesterday and they promise to do the web-pages in english. So all the necessary information will be there. Areas are the same as last year and route master is the same as last year "Tuomas Vitikainen" and his car "Anteater". He "Tuomas" will drive through all the routes so that they are driveable, somehow. Jez miss the last point last year because his car wasn't yellow submarine. It was only yellow. Competitors amount is limited for 80 cars. Accomodation and maps questions you can send pm to me.

Got a co-driver yet..? If not i'd be seriously keen on going over and helping out with anything i can... I would be looking at taking my buggy over but doubt it will be finished by then.... Its just coming together as money and workshop space allows...

As a organiser, in Finland Trophy there is no limitations or rules what waypoints can be taken safely or not. So every point is up to you. There is no rules which waypoints you can take with rollcage or without... It just up to you if you rollover you rollover. **** happens. In Finnish National Trophy-Raid cup-series there is on going this typical Scandinavian "we want to take care of you" mentality...which causes a lot unnessary and stupid safety regulations ...which is sad.

Finland Trophy has nothing to do with this.... It's totally unsafe, but those who want drive off road it's the best competition in Finland. But still it's like sunny holiday weekend if you compare it to the Ladoga..and Vepskiy Les is another story...

Ok so it doesn't matter what i'm running i could go along and have some fun.... I could run my 100" hybrid without cage and get on ok, i have other tyres, springs, shocks etc to go on and am running 3.9efi....? Might fit roll over protection of some sort....

post-4890-1215550515_thumb.jpg

When do i need to be booked in/sign up for it....? And do i need to specify the vehicle... As i may have the 88" buggy on portals close enough to finished to take over......

Cheers, Daniel

Ping Myllis a pm Daniel :)

wonder if Roope's coming?

Which level accomodation you want?? Basic level is in school where are 4 beds in a room. Showers and toilets are common. One accomodation place is the deer hunters cottage (own sleeping bags)

Nearest (and only) hotel is Hotel Huvikumpu.

Or then you can rent a cottage. Cottages prices varies a lot depenging which luxury level you want. Basic (without electricity etc..) cost around 100e/weekend and five star (with satellite tv's) costs around 800e/weekend. Usually cottages are for 4 person then everyone has his own bed. All the cottages are lakeside and with Finnish Sauna. Some cottages are far a way from everywhere, so only noise source is you expect birds (mostly swans). Usually russian competitors will rent all the cottages quit early (the price not is important for them). And I have already got some inquiries from Moscow and St.Petersburg. For many russians it's also familyholiday trip. So when mens are driving, wifes and kids are shopping in Mikkeli or then just enjoying of the nature and silence...

So you have 24 hours time to pick up about 200 waypoints. All the waypoints are the same in every class but points differs difficulty level. Easy waypoints you can get about 3 points/each and very very difficult you might even get 80 points... it's up to you which ones you choose. Winner is who collects the highest points in 24 hours. So if you spend too much time in difficult waypoint leave it and go to easier one.. or take it. Usually if you want to turnaround from the waypoint route without picking it, you have done your decission too late. So be sure where your car and team is capable before you go. To authenticate that you have been at the waypoint you have to take a picture by your digital camera where co-driver touches the point and car. Organisers will check all the pictures.

Maps from the area (same as last year, so Jez should have them) are in Ozi -format. If you want to use any other system, please let us know beforehand. So that we can convert the maps and waypoints suitable format. You will get the maps and waypoints by usb-stick or CD-Disc when you have registrated. Waypoint coordinates you can also get in A4 -paper.

BR,

Ari

ps. as usually foreigner's can pay the registaration fee when they arrive. But we want definately know if someone who is registrated is not coming, cause the participants amount is limited for 80 car's. And there is always more coming than we can take.

ps1. registration forms should be in the net in this month. I let you know when the registration starts.
