Pacey
Hi guys, Just sorted a leek out on the return pipe from the turbo. whilst we had the air feed off my mate stuck his fingers in to check the turbo, he seems to think there is too much play on the blades. I felt and there is a little bit of movement. The engine has done 34000 and is 2001 build. Is this turbo going to fail? is it worth getting it overhauled and if so by who? thanks
Se7enUp
I'm really not an expert and I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong. I thought that within reason, there should be a little play in the turbo. This allows the oil to lubricate the turbo bearings and lets the centre "spindle" essentialy float on a film of oil as it turns.
