Discovan300tdi
right ho chaps heres a daft question regarding sva and the altering of chassis a mate wants to build a 100" hybrid out of his very rusty 200 tdi disco, and has come up with this idea. If he was to build another sub chassis that had the defender rear cross member and the bulkhead out riggers etc on it for the defender/series body work to fit. the sub chassi then attches to the disco chassi via its original body mounts, i think in the same style as the 11a/11b forward controls had the frame on top of the normal chassis. firstly would that still need sva testing as the donor chassis hasnt been altered and all he is doing in reality is changing the bodywork and secondly is he mad for even thinking of doing it??? imspanners
I would have thought, if he was shortening the rear of the chassis (which most 100" Hybrids tend to do) would bring it into the SVA realm. However, if he was keeping it the same; length, running gear, steering etc, it's just a body change = no SVA. (like it's really that simple)! landrover598
Why not just SVA it ?

LandyManLuke
regardless of the SVA, wouldn't that solution weigh a silly amount?
Discovan300tdi
cheers chaps I shall delight in telling him that it would still need sva ing when I see him tonight as hes coming to fix my dodgy central heating , typical plumber more money than sense when it comes to motors
