iandouglas Posted November 16, 2008 Share Posted November 16, 2008 hi my 1996 300 tdi disco has started to develop a rumble noise from the cooling fan bearing .Ive dropped the fan and serpentine belt off. Found some play in pulley and roughness when i spin pulley.Is the bearing replaceable and do i have to remove the timing belt cover to do so. rgds.iandouglas Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JimAttrill Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 The bearing is not officially replaceable, you are supposed to replace the timing case. I do know of one person who replaced the bearing with another but he was an engineer with all the equipment.
