beko1987 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Whilst bored at work, the boss and myself have been browsing auto trader. We've found a lovely Disco SE with the above fault for £900 quid with 112 thou on the clock. The boss wants to buy it, but neither of us know how difficult replacing the Thrust Bearing ~(or indeed, what it is...) and I can't download any of the manuals on my work machine. Any ideas on the scale of the job? The listing said that the bearing was 'noisy when warm' so could be anything TBH. Never been this side of the forums before... Quote
Les Henson Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Thrust bearing, Auto, I don't think so. The thrust bearing is a clutch component, which you won't have. Perhaps they mean the spigot bearing? About 80p for one, but gearbox off/scraped knuckles/swearing/neighbours looking worried/Police/Ambulance involvement, etc still. Les Quote
