clemo2k1 Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 evening all i have a 300 tdi disco and can hear a noise that's defiantly turbo related ive checked all the pipes for leaks it sounds like leaking air is their a possibility its the bearing in the turbo? and are they servicabe? antichrist Posted February 11, 2009 Share Posted February 11, 2009 Turbos are indeed serviceable, and you can replace just the bearings, and that could be a DIY. However if you're taking it apart you might as well have it cleaned up and the compressor and wheel and turbine shaft/wheel balanced at the same time. The balancing would have to be done by a turbo rebuilder. If you don't have one near you it could be done by post, just sending them the two components.
