trogers Posted June 11, 2009 Share Posted June 11, 2009 Hi all, A strange noise started today,(nothing new there then). I tracked it down to the alternator pully. When I removed the belt the pully seems to have disintegrated in the middle. The nut holding it in place is tight but the pully is blowing in the wind and is rubbing on the alternator housing. Will I have to get a new alternator or just a new pully. Its the large 61mm pully whats the best and quickest place to get one LR want £27.00 plus vat. Thanks in advance Keep it up. cipx2 Posted June 11, 2009 Share Posted June 11, 2009 If LR wants 27 quid +VAT, it's obviously the price for the pulley, not a complete alternator The pulley is part# STC1796. Google for the part# and you'll find it under 20. Open a thread in the Wanted section, maybe someone has a pulley from a duffed alternator.
