Adesred90
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question but thought it would reach a wider audience. So, my question is- does anybody know the legalities of producing "pattern parts"? Do you need some form of permission from the owner of the original part or can you produce parts for sale so long as you dont advertise them as original. The reason I ask is, I have come up with an idea of a replacement part which I KNOW would be better than the original. It would have to be basically the same shape and size but of different materials,so would I be breaching copyright or not? Oh! by the way, it IS a LANDROVER part I'm talking about (to keep you interested) and I havent found one or seen one anywhere before. Answers on a postcard............sorry I mean here..........please. Ade

From a purely legal point of view you just have to prove that you version has some kind of innovation - and that could well be the material that you make it from. If what you are doing is simply upgrading the tandard item, then I can't see a problem. Mark
