  1. I'm planning to drive some the lanes featured as soon as my truck is back on the road (next week). Do you have any info on which ones to avoid etc? Ade
  2. Cheers Divster, that helps. where is your post as quoted in the original text: (I've seen Divsters post re. where he got parts from but not got a response from him yet in PM's regards ease f change and final appearance..) I'm not 100% where to start looking, that's all. Ade
  3. How easy (or difficult) is it to change the fuse box on my 1986 LR90 to the blade type. Is a matter of just cutting all the wires at the back and soldering on Lucar connectors? Or is there anything else I should consider? As anyone out there performed this operation yet? Ade
  4. here, here. I'd like to see more posts like these, starting at the basics and building up to the more technical stuff. I know there are plenty of young 'uns who frequent this site who would benefit from such basic info. I'll be emailing them to my 17 year old and hopefully he'll have a bash at it himself instead of running to me every time his poxy Corsa misses a beat. I for one am looking forward to the next instalment of Les' "mini series" and c'mon guys, lets have a little more input with tricks of the trade etc. etc. Keep up the good work Les. Ade
  5. Note: some of the earlier Cebora 130 pocket migs used the 160 amp transformer ……… just alter the tapping and bingo Ian I've got one of these, I only paid £40 for it still boxed and used only twice. So, how do you alter the tapping exactly? I only use it for light stuff as i prefer my good old stick for heavier bits. Ade
  6. Only a day eh! aint you the lucky one. piccies please Les. Ade Rebuilding 90 to DIY truck cab, piccies on the way. credits to Pritch1
  7. I personally would go for the "wreckers " option. By far the cheapest and not too difficult to do. I run a single mondeo fan on my 90 but it never kicks in.It might do now though with the hot weather. Speak to simonr about his hose coupling (x-eng) ade
  8. input good so far guys......keep it coming Ade
  9. And I thought I was sad....lol I can weld basic stuff (have arc and mig) and besides, my old man is a welder/boiler maker by trade so he'll be busy. Fuel isn't really an issue as it's only my toy and I don't do that many miles in it (or will that change when I hear the exhaust note?) I don't do any serious offroading just greenlanes and kerbs (big kerbs of course!) Ade
  10. I want to fit a v8 to my 1986 2.5naD 90. I know some will be asking "why?" but it's simple...I just like the sound of 'em. I used to own a 1980 RaRo and wish I had never sold it. My neighbour owns a newer but still classic RaRo and I go green when I hear him reversing up his drive. I've been offered a complete unit with all ancillaries fo £70 from a fellow Landie enthusiast. My questions are: Is it worth it? the engine, that is What changes will need to be made to the transmission and drive train etc etc What other things will I need to consider? All advice greatly appreciated Ade
  11. Yes I agree with mark. It is a mobile phone antenna. if you look under the dash you will probably still have a little black box that it connects to. If you do not intend using a hands free kit then dispose of it. if you do, then it might come in useful.
  12. it must need one hell of a starter motor. Another engine maybe or Goliath and a cranking handle.
  13. I've read somewhere that ordinary car body filler would, over time, peel and crack if applied to the aluminium body panels of a Landrover. Does anyone have any suggestions to what I will need? ie brands, recommendations and what to avoid. Ade
  14. funny........my missus wasn't amused. ........but I was!!!
  15. The VIN number on my 90 and the registration rear dont add up. The VIN says AA which I know is 1984MY but it is a 1986 registration. Is this a common scenario? Is it possible that it could have been parked in the carpark at Solihull for the best part of 2 years? Ade BTW, I live in the UK. So that's a "D" plate.
  16. Ooops! So it is, how BLIND of me. Apologies to our American cousins. Ade
  17. Surely there must be a law against this http://www.cardomain.com/ride/545090/1
  18. I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question but thought it would reach a wider audience. So, my question is- does anybody know the legalities of producing "pattern parts"? Do you need some form of permission from the owner of the original part or can you produce parts for sale so long as you dont advertise them as original. The reason I ask is, I have come up with an idea of a replacement part which I KNOW would be better than the original. It would have to be basically the same shape and size but of different materials,so would I be breaching copyright or not? Oh! by the way, it IS a LANDROVER part I'm talking about (to keep you interested) and I havent found one or seen one anywhere before. Answers on a postcard............sorry I mean here..........please. Ade
  19. Although I expect everyone on this thread respects your opinion, I think you've missed the point about the grievance people have. I too will "copy" and make my own bits and pieces for my own use, whenever I can, as you and countless others no doubt do but I wouldn't blatantly steal an idea from someone who considered me a friend for commercial reasons. I dont know Simon or Colin and I haven't yet purchased from either of them but I do understand why people feel so strongly about this. Maybe you should go back to the beginning of the thread and read it all the way through more carefully and then come back with a more "grown up" response. Thank you Ade P.S. You had better make your answer to this a good one or be it on your own head.
  20. Not far away from there, Intake, opposite 3rd furlong marker, donny racecourse. As it happens I was on Hurst Lane in Auckley at the weekend, buying a car for my eldest. He wanted a Landie but wife insists (in a nagging wife tone)"there's enough oil on the drive wi' one ne'er mind two of the damn things" You know how it is. So he's settled for a Corsa (fits nicely underneath the 90 and keeps the off the drive! lol). Born and bred in Balby/Warmsworth though. Ex Balby High, Oswin Avenue (housing estate now) and Balby Carr, Weston Road.(car thief and drug dealer training school now.....allegedly). How long you been in swindon/ (note to self-must fix that damn shift key)
  21. I spent a fortnight in Swindon one day. Best thing about it was the A419 ( a quick way aaht back up t'North). Which area of Doncaster did you live?
  22. my landie is poorly, sick and dying at the moment but hope to have her up and running for Kirton at the end of April. Hope to see some of you there.
  23. Hello all, I'm a newbie to this forum and was wondering if there was anyone from the South Yorkshire area or Doncaster to be more specific.
  24. Just be careful of Scrapiron copying the design!!
