Raumer Posted July 7, 2009 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Hi All, I have finally got to the bottom of the problem with my landrover not wanting to switch off. After dismantling the dash and remove quite a bit of atrocious wiring it looks the like the fault is with the alternator. Now for what I hope is a simple question. The engine is a discovery 200 tdi, can I fit a Defender 200 tdi alternator instead? I think the only difference is that the discovery one is 65 amp and the defender one is 45 amp but just wanted to check first! cieranc Posted July 7, 2009 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Yes, I fitted a Discovery alternator to my 200TDi Defender spec. Two differences, the one you mention about the outputs, and the Disco unit doesn't have a 'W' terminal to attach the rev gague to. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
