fuel pump on disco 300tdi

The idle adjustment screw on a diesel engine is for fine tuning really. Winding it right out shouldn't cause the engine to stop. They 'naturally' tick over with no assistance from the idle screw or cable tension. There are two adjusters on the pump, and neither one should be touched unless someone has been experimenting with them and altered them from the factory settings. If your engine cuts out with your foot off the pedal, then it's likely it's not the idle screw setting that's the problem.

yeah, all of that, it is very sluggish, takes for ever to get up to 60, idle is a lot lower than any other vehicle i have owned, acceleration aint there, generally no response, its a right pig to start for the first time every day, turns over for ages before finaly firing away, i have changed the lift pump as i was told that could be the reason bt its no different, the only good thing is it still moves so im able to drive it
