Morning All,

I recently reconditioned my engine (300tdi disco), big ends, piston rings etc etc. Put it in last night, and turned it over to get oil pressure, and to my utter disbelief it sounded wonderful, not bangs, scratches etc, so I might....justve put it back together properly!

But when it came to start it for real, we found that the stop solenoid wasnt getting 12V, was getting 0V.. So we started it via hotwiring the stop solenoid and everything checks out, so yay.

My question is are there any suggestions on what could be causing the stop solenoid to recieve 0V, another symptom is that the temperature gauge reads quite different values depending whether the headlights are on/off. Is there a wire somewhere thats on an earth that should be live (or vice versa?).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, Doogle (the disco throwing the wobbly) runs out of insurance on Sunday, and is destined for traybacked off roader (as I have just inherited a nice road going disco to tow him with :)) and I REALLY want to take him greenlaning tomorrow as a last hurrah!

Cheers

Ryan
