jmattley
The cambelt snapped yesterday on my 200tdi, i was doing about 30 at the time and stopped straight away so I didn't drive far with it broken. My question is, will it just be a case of a couple of bent push rods and dented valves or will there be much more damage done to the engine? Cheers everyone!!! Les Henson
If it was the timing (cam) belt, then you wouldn't have been able to drive any distance at all (unless it was rolling downhill) No bent valves, no need to remove the head - just pushrods (about £3 each), a new belt/tensioner/idler/timing cover gasket/timing cover dust seal), and a bit of work.
