redneck
It sounds like time to replace/rebuild the gearbox on my Disco (200tdi with lt77), it's noisy in 1st, 3rd and 5th (very noisy). Being as I'm time rich and money poor at the moment, I thought I might have a bash at rebuilding the box but was wondering what the costs of materials will likely be approximately (I know, how long is a piece of string) I imagine a couple of bearings and seals, and is there an online source for the rebuild instructions. Other option is to replace, if anyone has a good spare taking up space in or around Doncaster/S.Yorkshire. Thanks in advance
Gromit
I rebuilt mine last year for the cost of a rebuilt kit from ashcrofts: £140 Took me about 4/5 days, taking my time as a gearbox virgin. Only special tools needed was a large puller. I followed the rebuid instructions in the defender workshop manual
redneck
Thanks Gromit, didn't realise Ashcrofts did kits as well. Might wait a while to see if anyone has a spare first though.
