speedemoneire
Do you think white smoke at start up is a severe problem.
Ratty43
Is it a petrol or a diesel? If diesel then it's likely to be low temperature stopping the fuel being burnt, faulty glow plugs would be a place to start or the pre-heat system. Could also be condensation in the exhaust, you should be able to tell if it's steam or diesel by the smell.
speedemoneire
Its diesel the smoke is at every start even when warm and lasts 2 mins.
Bush65
White smoke at cold diesel engine start is common as per Ratty43 post. In that case it is unburnt fuel. Unburnt diesel from a warm engine could occur if compression is poor or injectors aren't atomising properly. White smoke can also be water vapour - leaking gasket or cracked head. Ratty43
Odd that it should be at every start and only for a short period, do you have any other symptoms to go with it?

Ratty43
You might see if it's dodgy spray pattern from the inectors courtesy of any erosion of the ends of the glow plugs. I's a case of whipping out the old and putting in new ones so pretty minor.
uganda110
Injector testing is a great idea. Did you ever give it a try? I'd also pull the hose on the top of your intercool and see if there is any oil in it. If so, it could just be burning oil from the intercooler. You may have a failing turbo or a bad engine breather.
