Loads for sale some with galved chassis, with a galved chassis how do you tell its id then? Lynall VIN Should be stamped in on the front right (drivers side on a RHD) vertical chassis leg. It's normally on or just above the jacking point bracket. The stamping isn't normally very deep so take some wire wool and a decent torch with you. On a galvanised chassis you should still be able to make out the number in that position. The vendor should also be able to provide you with proof of purchase of the chassis as, if it's a rebuild, the vehicle will have retained it's original chassis number and the builder may well have stamped it themselves. Above all though, the golden rule applies - if you are in any doubt at all about a vehicle, there is no doubt - walk away. Hope this helps. Matt Vertical chassis leg??? it's on the outside of the right hand side dumb iron,just behind where the bumper bolts through. Every Defender's VIN is in this position.
