Les Henson
Are you replacing a full sill or just the outer 'skin'? I've only ever done a full sill, and it's major work. Les.
monkeyb0y
If its full sill...it ain't a 2 minute job...as Les says, its major work. Usually on these beasts you start out doing the sill and it spreads to floorwells, wheel arches, door pillars, body mountings... The finished result is very rewarding if done right and mot man says yes....but you need the right mindset to succeed...eg...you've gotta want to do it with love and enthusiasm lol... Range Rover Blues
I think the 2 door is harder, someone will correct me here but I think the Disco is based on the 4 door RRC and as such has a sill the full length of the floor between the wheels. It's a big old job. I've done a few and to do it properly would cost more than the car was worth so as said it has to be worth it. I cut the floor away around each end and weld downhand as much as possible, it's always rusty anyway. you'll probably find the wheelarch at the back is rotten and the A post too. It makes it much easier on the RRC to take the wings off, our ended up with new rear inner and outer arches too. Weld on some bracing for the B post, I didn't do it well enough and ours moved, not back but inwards, PITA. I cut back to the seat box and replaced 4 inches of floor too. This last time I used 60x100mm 3mm wall box, it's slightly narrower so I had to space out the chassis brackets by 5mm. I do have pictures but not on-line at the moment.
