Peterla
Hi, I have a 300tdi disco that had the rubber donut tail shaft. I have fitted my old 200tdi rear ARB diff lock but was unable to use the 200tdi tail shaft as it was damaged when I rolled the car four times. I have purchased a range rover tail shaft which has the uni joints and a slide collar. My concern is the slide collar is a fair way out and I am not sure what is normal on these. Does anyone know what the normal distance on this tail shaft slide should be as I am concerned that the gear might not be deep enough and strip. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated before I get stuck with a stripped tail shaft. Many thanks Peter
Range Rover Blues
Nominally hey are the same. If the splines are hanging out then it's too long. As a guide the rubber collar pops off if they over-extend.
Peterla
Thanks for the reply. The Rubber pops off about 10mm from the length when fitted. Way to short so I have purchased a 200tdi disco one and it is the perfect lenght. Not happy at the agent that told me the rangerover one will be fine.
