SharkyMarc
Evening all, I recently came back from a pay and play site wi two clicky CV's and a possible wheel bearing problem. Both m swivels are quite pitted as well. Would I replace whole axle or rebuild what I have?
Niamh
Personally I'd rebuild replacing what's necessary. Niamh
team-anarchy
Weigh up the cost, and what you Wana run the motor for, I'm sellin td5 front with arb locker and hardened crown wheel and pinion 4.76 gear hardened flange, and same for rear but also with ashcroft hardened shafts in rear, £600 front, £700 rear, or £1200 pair,? stuck
+1 for rebuilding. At least you will know what you have then. (No disrespect to Team-Anarchy intended!)
minimaquinas
hi i think it would be better to rebuild as the axle you buy may be on its way out and then your back to square 1 hth brian
team-anarchy
None taken stuck, just offering a cheap GD replacement for quality parts, but as ya say, unless ya know the truck, ya never know
stuck
If both your axles have lockers fitted then that is a good price... I'd have them in a shot but lockers aren't allowed in the class I run in
team-anarchy
Yes both my axles have lockers, arb'd are switched on and off, so what ever class your in, ya can just disconnect the switch to stay in your class, that way it's just the same as having a 4 pin diff
SharkyMarc
How recently have bearings etc been done? Ideally I think a standard replacement may be more in my price range as its only a weekend toy rather than a challenge truck but something to think about. Would def td5 fit straight onto disco 1? team-anarchy
the axles were built 1 challenge ago, and about 4 pay and play days ago. and no more than 300 miles ago. rear axle needs brake pads, other than that there ready to rock. i fitted these axles to my g registration defender 90. so yes they should fit straight on to a disco 1. the axles are off an 02 td5 90. SharkyMarc
What ancillaries would they come with? Anything in the way of radius arms etc? Are you on portals now then?
team-anarchy
If ya wanted the standard td5 radius arms £25 If ya want the tracking bar fitted with a dan bar sleeve £40 And if you wanted the heavy duty tracking guard, £50 I'm not releasing my giggle pin trialling arms, as I'm using them, mog axles not fitted yet, I only removed my arb axles this weekend, (Saturday)
