carlosbeldia
I want to start producing some biodiesel in my farm using some of the procedures you can find in many webpages. The idea is being able to keep my car running indefinetly in case some kind of failure in supply or natural disaster keeps the diesel out of service stations. This will be only emergency fuel, not for daily use, and will be mixed with mineral diesel. Is anybody running its TD5 in homemade biodiesel? I know TD5 run perfect with biodiesel (here in Colombia we use a mix of 20% of biodiesel in any pump), but don't know how it behaves with homemade (made from vegetable oil). If so, how much mineral do I have to mix to keep everything OK?
Big.Mike
Wow interesting idea, what are you going to use as a base crop to make the fuel?
TheRecklessEngineer
If you make it correctly and ensure that all the byproducts and contaminants are removed before filling your vehicle, you *should* be able to run 100%. While earlier vehicles won't be so fussy, the td5 is not so tolerant to poor quality fuel. However, the above is quite hard to achieve. I manage it, as do many others, but it takes practice and knowledge. Have a read here: http://www.biopowered.co.uk
