Hodroyd
This moderator approval lark is a bit weird, I am on another forum with over 12K posts and never been vetted as it were..?? Untrustworthy types come on these forums then..?? Anyway, rear exhaust box is going and I am going to change for a Stainless box, they last longer..!! I had considered a sports exhaust box, but not sure if a diesel is worth the extra, has anybody done this extra exhaust spec route on a diesel..?? Thanks..!! dwalsh1
My rear box is looking a bit 5hite so would be interested as well with any feedback. There's a stainless Steel one for £150 on the link below that I was looking at. Don't do mechanics so is it a case of undoing a couple of bolts and slipping it on? http://www.mansfield4x4burystedmunds.com/freelander_accessories.php
FridgeFreezer
My original back box lasted ~14 years (only died last year as a mount snapped off), stock replacement was dirt cheap and it's not a difficult DIY fit back there - not sure a stainless one is going to gain you owt unless you're keeping the car for at least another decade! dwalsh1
Mine is 9 years old with 46,000 miles on it if that makes a difference I'm not sure. It looks pretty corroded but passed a mot a couple of months ago. My thoughts on a s/s one is it wouldn't look like a bag of 5hite after a couple of months but if a replacement fitted by kwikfit is cheap enough then that could be a no brainer. FridgeFreezer
Check the prices from Land Rover parts shops 1st, they may well be able to do better than kwikfit. Can't say I've ever worried what people think of how my back box looks
Ally V8
Be careful, cheap silencers on Freelanders can be a pain, rattling baffles and rapid corrosion are the two main issues I've had to deal with, along with poor fit. Can't say I would buy anything off Kwikfit - Or Kick-fit as they are known amongst the garage trade...
