RustyNissanPrairie Posted July 25, 2010 Share Posted July 25, 2010 As if keeping a 1991 Defender 110 on the road isnt bad enough-the wife wants to change her car and has either a MK2 Merc A-Class on the list (my preffered choice) allthough she needs the boot space and dosnt like the lip when the seats fold. The 2nd choice is a face lifted TD4 station wagon Freebie. Are the 'horror stories' of IRD/viscous couplings still relavant to the later MK1's? I know of the crankcase breather issue on the TD4, anything else to help talk the wife out of it or should I bite the bullet and go for it and really make my parts supplier happy? Mr Bean Posted July 25, 2010 Share Posted July 25, 2010 To be honest they are not that unreliable as long as you buy one post 2001 and its a TD4 manual and never use the sunroof!!!
