Well my 200Tdi does around 30 mpg, so I'd imagine a bit better than that....what with all the electronic control and what not

You don't happen to know the colour name/code of what your truck used to be do you?
I swear it's the same as mine, and I've been looking to confirm what mine is. Cheers.
Lovely looking vehicle by the way

I removed one of those tree trunks a few weekends ago, made the lane passable again anyway...
It is very deeply gulleyed, and quite rutted in places. It would benefit from some restoration work in my opinion, and channelling the water away from the lane would be a very good idea I agree.

I saw a brand new (08) one in a gorgeous metallic black parked down the lane behind my house.
It was fitted with BFG ATs and had an Ifor Williams trailer on the back, the guy who was with it was doing some hedge work.
I didn't get a picture but it made me smile. Oh if I had 25k lying around...

Three windsurfers plus the assorted booms/masts etc were strapped to the top of the Freelander (on a proper rack, mind).
Quite how we ended up like we did, with the car, windsurfers and caravan lined up next to each other after 100 yards of travel after being seperated rather violently...is beyond me.
-
I'll have you know we were doing 65 mph! I can tell you that because we set the cruise control and forget about it for the most part, the Freelander handles the rest!

Retroanaconda...
How did that happen
Basically a French woman fell asleep at the wheel, and hit the front nearside of our caravan at around 80mph, jack-knifing our outfit to the extent that it bend the towbar 30 degrees, and the rear nearside wheel of the Freelander tore off part of the front nearside wing of the van. Rolly-polly goodness ensued for 100 yards (with a good measure of central reservation thrown in) before coming to a rest like that.
It's testament to the vehicle that myself and my three other family members walked out of it without a scratch on us
I still think to this day that that is one of the reasons I like Land Rovers so much

Oh my god :|
All I can offer is...
Wasn't me driving, but I was in it at the time

My 1992 Defender seems to have a mixture of Metric and English fittings across the vehicle, so I guess after that at least!

What time are people thinking of meeting up? And on what day of the weekend?
I assume the car park is here....

Any space for a newbie to tag along on Saturday or Sunday...?

My water pump cover is missing a bolt, and haven't had any leaks yet (touch wood).
God knows what goes in the hole, there appears to be no thread....maybe it's been stripped in the past

You change down when the sound changes to the 'heeeeelp meee, I'm struuuuggling' sound
Oh, and up when all the body panels hit their resonant frequency

Ouch
Does she still run?

Well I'm looking for a 200TDi now, as I think I can make my budget stretch to one....if I can find a nice one!
Will be easier for me to insure an original vehicle than one that's been up-engined. Phoned Adrian Flux today just out of interest, they wanted well over a grand for the same vehicle that Churchill gave me a quote of £650 for! So much for them
Thanks for the help guys

I will bear it in mind, if I can find a 200TDi model then I'll try and opt for that. If I can find a bit more money then one may be within my reach
The SA80 in my avatar is one of my airsoft rifles yeah.

Strange, when I spoke to the guy he said it was a n/a model, but apparently it has power steering too...
All will be revealed if and when I go and take a peeksie I guess.
Cheers for the reply

Hello all!
I'm 19 and looking to buy myself my first Land Rover in the near future. Currently looking at an '86 90 with either a 2.5D or a 2.5T/D (don't know which yet, need to ask the fella). It's done 118,000 miles, which as far as I'm aware should be fine for a well-maintained diesel. It also has power steering (I'm sure I read somewhere that the 200TDi onwards models had this, but I prepare to be corrected in quick time!).
Now, I'm sorry to jump in with the questioning straight away, but despite having owned cars for the last two years I've never had the sense to buy a Land Rover What I'd like to know is, and assuming the vehicle in question is in good nick otherwise (rust free and what-not), are the 2.5D and 2.5T/D lumps a good bet for a first timer? I've read a fair bit of variation in opinion on these engines, with some saying they're good reliable units and others cursing them as being a load of rubbish. I don't want to be hitting massive speeds, or do trialing. I'll mainly be using it for transporting people/kit to and from airsoft games, with the occasional bit of off-road and maybe some green-laning.
And yes I'd love to have a 200TDi, but my cost range doesn't stretch that far
Cheers guys
James

Failing that your local pond/aquatics place *may* do them.
I know we do where I work
